He [Kessler] is the danger man, very big, very strong. This could be the trickiest fight. If he [Froch] comes through I believe he’ll win the Super Six. I do think Froch will win. The level he has been boxing is absolutely unbelievable. He has struggled in a couple of fights, but you have to look at the quality of those he has beaten. Look at them – Jean Pascal, Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell. That is the highest of the highest level, one after the other. It shows he is a great fighter, that he is willing to fight all those champions in a short sequence.” Oh brother!

How can Hatton come to the conclusion that Froch will win the Super Six tourney just because he beats Kessler? How did Hatton work that one out? Kessler was just badly beaten in an 11 round technical decision to Andre Ward, losing every round of the fight last November. How is that Hatton thinks that if Froch can somehow squeak by Kessler that it translates into Froch being able to win the Super Six tournament?

That is huge stretch if you ask me. Froch beats Kessler; therefore he wins the Super Six tournament. What is that? What happened to Ward? Wouldn’t you think that Froch should have to beat that guy to be considered a shoe in to win the Super Six and not Kessler? That is some of backwards way of looking at things. If Froch beats Ward, which I don’t give him chance of doing, and then I could see Hatton saying that Froch would win his remaining matches in the Super Six tourney and capture the prize eventually.

However, he’s not facing ward, he’s facing Kessler, the guy that was beaten by Ward. I think I’ve heard it all now. And I don’t see Froch beating Kessler tomorrow night. I hate drizzle on anyone’s parade; I just don’t see Froch as being competitive with Kessler. We’re talking different skill levels in this fight. Froch is someone with poor defense, upright style of fighting and slow hand speed, facing Kessler, who is fast, has an excellent jab good defense. He’s the complete opposite of Froch.

Hatton says “Froch is one of the very best world champions out there. If he can beat Kessler in his backyard, it will be one hell of an achievement.” I agree it will be a huge accomplishment, but I don’t think it’s possible. Froch was luck as heck to beat Andre Dirrell in his last fight in Nottingham, England. Say what you want about that fight, but I think the result would have been much different had the fight not taken place in Nottingham, England. I had Dirrell winning by five rounds over Froch. It wasn’t a close fight from my perspective. Froch will have to look worlds better than he did in that fight to beat a skilled fighter like Kessler, and I don’t see Froch changing enough to beat Kessler.
