By Eric Thomas: 43-year-old Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KO’s) looks to have taken off a massive amount of weight in a recent appearance in Italy’s “Dancing with the Stars” competition. Tyson, who hasn’t fought in over five years, appears to have taken off at least 40+ pounds in recent months. In the video, Tyson looks to be near his old fighting weight of the low 220s. In contrast, Tyson ballooned up in weight in the past year and looked nothing like his former self, almost George Foreman-esque. Could this mean that Tyson is contemplating a comeback to boxing? Let’s hope so.

Tyson could make good money in a third rubber match against Evander Holyfield. There’s a number of opponents that would be perfect for Tyson, such as Vitali Klitschko or British heavyweight David Haye. To be sure, the fights would have to be limited in terms of rounds because Tyson’s stamina would likely be a problem given the amount of years that he’s been out of the sport.

However, Tyson would be big problems for any fighter in a three to six round fight. Tyson last fought in 2005. He finished his career on a bad note, losing three out of his last four fights, but Tyson was matched fairly tough at the end of his career and you can’t really blame him for those losses.

Tyson vs. Haye would be an excellent fight. Tyson with his huge one-punch power, would be a real danger for Haye. It would be an interesting fight to see two massive power punchers with blazing speed going head to head.
