Mosley, 38, is getting his best chance at a huge money fight in years since he took on Oscar De La Hoya in their second fight in 2003. Mosley has wanted a fight against Mayweather for years, but hasn’t had any luck at landing a fight against him until now.

Mosley says in an article at Yahoo news, “I lost to guys he [Mayweather] wouldn’t fight,” referring to Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright, who Mosley lost to twice a piece. Mosley also lost a narrow 12 round decision to Miguel Cotto in 2007, in a controversial defeat that could have gone either way.

Despite getting up there in age at 38, Mosley still thinks he’s the best fighter in the welterweight division even though he hasn’t been all that active in the past couple of years. Mosley says “The bottom line is, I’m the best fighter in the world. I know that. I believe I’ve proven that. But this is a great fight, a big fight against a guy [Mayweather] who is very talented. When I get my chance, I’ll show you who deserves to be the best in the world.”

Mayweather may easily be the best fighter that Mosley will have ever faced. During his long 17-year pro career, Mosley has faced excellent fighters like De La Hoya, Wright, Fernando Vargas, Luis Collazo, Vernon Forrest, Antonio Margarito, Cotto, Raul Marquez, Jesse James Leija, John John Molina, and Philip Holiday.

However, none of those fighters really compare to Mayweather in talent. It’s safe to say that Mayweather would have been able to breeze through every fighter that Mosley has faced in his career without suffering one defeat. This is why Mosley is going to have to be better than he’s ever been before if he wants to beat Mayweather. Floyd is simply a level or two above anyone that Mosley has ever faced before.
