Top Rank president Todd duBoef, told ESPN writer Dan Rafael that Margarito could fight on the undercard as long if he gets his boxing license back in the February hearing.

Margarito had his license revoked for one year by the California Athletic Association for having an illegal substance found in his gloves before his January 29th fight against Shane Mosley. However, it’s questionable whether Margarito will get his license back so soon. Margarito ended up losing the fight to Mosley by a 9th round stoppage and along with it, he lost his title. Margarito has wins over Miguel Cotto, Kermit Cintron and Joshua Clottey.

The Clottey-Pacquiao fight could take place at the Dallas Cowboy stadium, in Arlington, Texas. The fight would give Clottey his biggest payday of his career. Clottey’s manager Vinny Scolpino said in an interview with ESPN, It’s the biggest payday he [Clottey] he ever made in his life.” It could very well bring in a million or Clottey if the fight does well on Pay-per-view.

That’s the big question, though. Clottey isn’t a popular fighter, and Pacquiao has had the benefit of facing big named opponents since last year. Clottey would be one of the lesser named fighters that Pacquiao has fought. Would casual boxing fans be interested in paying big money to see Pacquiao fight Clottey rather than Floyd Mayweather? That’s the question. Pacquiao could have fought Mayweather, but Manny was resistant to having blood taken from him any closer to the fight than 24 days. Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, says that having blood taken from Pacquiao weakens him.

By not fighting Mayweather, Pacquiao is walking away from a minimum of $25 million dollars and as much as $40 million. Obviously, Pacquiao feels strongly about not having blood taken from his body, because it will probably take as many of four to five fights against opponents like Clottey to make the same kind of money that Pacquiao would have received in one fight against Mayweather.

Recently, the two fighters’ management teams met with a mediator to try and iron out the differences pertaining to the drug testing for the March 13th fight. Mayweather wanted to meet halfway on the deal with blood testing taken place at 14 days instead of 30. However, Pacquiao’s teams wanted the blood testing to take place no sooner than 24 days before the mega bout.
