Can Haye Beat Both Klitschko Brothers?

vit664By Peter Wells: After talks of a super fight between Vitali Klitschko and new World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye, there have been lots of articles saying who people believe will win. I wouldn’t argue with any opinion unless they are completely biast, and I won’t write a biast article here. I went for Haye to beat Valuev and felt like many other people he could have fought better, but let’s give him respect he won the title and fair play to him. Wladimir and Vitali are the two dominant forces in the Heavyweight division and despite their quality they aren’t exciting at all.

Since Vitali’s return he has swept away 4 good fighters, first he took the title from Samuel Peter’s grasps in 8 easy rounds. The titleholder Peter wasn’t even a challenge and Klitschko didn’t have to step out of first gear. Then came Cuban Juan Carlos Gomez who gave Vitali a decent challenge early on cutting Klitschko but took too much damage before being rescued in the 9th. Next in line was America’s best hope, Chris Arreola who was unbeaten in 27 fights before being badly beaten in clearly Vitali’s best performance since his return. Chris was beaten to every punch and was beat to tears by the end, which was the 10th. Another American hopeful was up next; Kevin Johnson also unbeaten was outboxed for 12 rounds, in only the 2nd fight were Klitschko went the distance. Klitschko didn’t look great but too his credit it isn’t his style to look great.

If this fight happens next year then it will have people talking, and could be a difficult fight to call defending on how you look at it. David I think could have knocked out Valuev if he’d tried to as he shook the giant with a low power punch. Klitschko cuts and that could be a factor against the speedy Haye and I would go with Haye to stay out of trouble early, and with Vitali being the much slower will find it hard to land those trade mark jabs. David will start landing big shots and Klitschko isn’t impossible to hit and may cut by half way. Haye can get inside enough to take the rounds quite clearly but can’t fight like he did against Valuev; he needs to get in there more. Haye could get floored but I think he would win on points.

Wladimir is probably the easier fight; the younger Klitschko brother hasn’t got the chin of Vitali and has been beaten 3 times, and stopped in all 3 of them. His last 3 fights have been stoppages against Tony Thompson KO 11, Hasim Rahman TKO 7 and Ruslan Chagaev RTD 9. Wladimir hasn’t fought great opposition and has been one to fight old fighters but did outpoint a good younger fighter in Sultan Ibragimov, and has stopped Lamont Brewster after being stopped himself.

So Wladimir would be a much easier fight for Haye and a less intriguing bout, in which I think Haye could do pretty much the same as Vitali but he could knock Klitschko out in 8 rounds.

These are what I feel would happen when these fights come around, most people will have different opinions and I am happy to listen to whatever you feel the result will be.
