Santiago’s fight predictions – Khan, Pacquiao, Prescott and more!

khan563455669By Liam Santiago: I am proud to say that in the last four years, I have only ever made a wrong prediction for a boxing bout once and that was the Hatton/Pac Man bout, which Hatton should have pulled out of. So, when it comes to betting advice on bouts, Santiago is the word. If you remember correctly, I predicted Haye to beat Valuev on points, Alexander to stop Witter and Prescott to spark Khan early on. Here I go again.

Khan vs Salita – I will start with the easy one. Khan on points. Salita poses no threat. No threat whatsoever. Salita does not even have the power to wobble Khan and that is saying something. However, do not expect Khan to try and put on a fine display of explosive action. Expect him to jab his way to a points win, then vacate his title and fight Morales or someone similar. However, remember Khan still fights like an amateur. Against Kotelnik at times he looked like he was about to trip over his own feet!

Pacquiao vs Cotto – Cotto by late stoppage. We all know how I feel about this one. I do not give the little Filipino a chance. If you ask anyone what makes Pac Man the better fighter, they will all say ‘speed’. Mosley brought ridiculously fast speed to Cotto but the Puerto Rican warrior fought a style that prevented his speed from doing anything. Cotto neutralised Mosley’s speed and is was neither use nor ornament. Speed is nothing against a guy like Cotto because he will not let you use it. He also has the power to stop Pacquaio. Remember the Hatton/Pacquiao fight? Remember when Hatton caught Pacquiao with a left hook and he went flying across the ring? Pacquiao is easy to hit and has not got a great chin.

Breidis Prescott vs Kevin Mitchell – Tough one to call. Prescott has recently been exposed by Vasquez and beaten on points but his power will always be there. Let’s face it, Khan was beaten by a very average fighter in Prescott. I sense some fairly harsh matchmaking on Prescott’s behalf as he has two fights arranged in the week before this bout, one in Russia and one in Columbia. If my thinking is correct he is promoted by Frank Warren. To fight three bouts in a couple of weeks is asking a lot. However, I am going to stick with my hero Prescott. Prescott by knockout.

Haye vs Klitschko – Haye by stoppage, whether it is against Wlad or Vitali. However, Haye needs to ditch the tactics he used against Valuev. They worked against him because he was a slow big beast, but he needs to fight the Klitschko’s. Vitali’s body is shot to pieces. He had to pull out of two comeback’s prior to his recent one because of injury. His body can not stand a war and that is what Haye has to give him. For Wladimar he must do the same, hit him on the chin and he will knock him out.

Froch vs Kessler – Froch by knockout. Kessler is over rated. Very over rated! Is biggest achievement is a defeat to Joe Calzaghe. He will be a much easier opponent for Froch than Dirrell was. Kessler fights in straight lines and is pretty slow. Froch will stop him.
