Khan vs Salita: Will Khan ever step up his opposition?

By Dennis Broadhurst:After looking at some videos of Salita in action, I wonder if Khan will ever step up his opposition. In the eyes of some boxing fans, the ones I mean who sit in their rocking chair with a few beers watching the boxing, this may look like a good fight because Salita is undefeated. Salita is not in the class of Khan, I see Salita as a -B class fighter and to say that he is a number one contender is shocking.

Khan will likely dispatch of this guy quite easily after coming off a decent win against Kotelnik who I see as a B class fighter. Khan will be far too fast for this guy and will win the fight. This will add another win to his record but will he ever fight the better fighters such as Hatton (if he come back), Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley? I hope he does because he will be remembered as a cherry picker after he retires if he does not.

Let’s have a look at who Khan has fought. He has beaten mainly C class fighters but he has also beaten Michael Gomez which I have to credit him for as Gomez was a decent fighter, he beat Willie Limond who was an ok fighter but in both of these fights he was floored and hurt badly. He then lost to Prescott as we all know. Since then he has beaten Oisin Fagan which was impressive but Fagan was a poor fighter, a faded Barrera on a headbutt and Kotelnik who isn’t a great fighter. We can now see that Khan has not fought anybody that is a good, strong, fast, tough fighter except Prescott and what happened there? He got knocked out in one round.

I hope that Khan begins fighting the better fighters in his weight class or I will be very disappointed and will lose all interest in him.
