By William Mackay: Promoter Frank Maloney is still recovering from a heart attack that he suffered this past week. Maloney found boxer Darren Sutherland’s dead body in his apartment. Later, Maloney checked into the King’s College Hospital, in London. It’s unclear when Maloney suffered the heart attack.

It could have possibly occurred on Friday night in Brentwood when Maloney’s fighter John McDermott lost a questionable 10 round decision to unbeaten Tyson Fury. Maloney, understandably, was upset with the final decision, feeling that his fighter McDermott should have won the fight. Then things took a turn for the worse, when Maloney found Sutherland’s lifeless body on Monday.

Maloney said that he had experienced chest pains after the McDermott-Fury fight on Friday night, but he didn’t feel that this was anything serious to worry about. After checking into the King’s College Hospital, however, it was determined that Maloney had indeed suffered a heart attack. Maloney will rest for a few days and then get back to his boxing business.

Ricky Hatton dreams of fighting for a title on the same card as his brother Matthew

Former light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton has a dream of fighting for a world title on the same card as his younger brother Matthew Hatton in 2010, if possible, according to The Mirror. Matthew Hatton (37-4-1, 14 KO’s) will face Lovemore N’Dou on November 13th for the International Boxing Organization welterweight title in Manchester.

Hopefully, Matthew wins the fight. N’Dou, 38, has lost three out of his last five bouts and looks to be fading as a fighter. However, N’Dou still has his power and was beaten by good fighters only, losing to Paulie Malignaggi twice and once to Kermit Cintron.

Ricky Hatton wants to see his younger brother excel and win a title. The IBO belt isn’t a major title, but it’s at least a start for Mathew. If Hatton can get by N’Dou, hopefully he can look for a better welterweight, maybe one of the top fighters on the world scene to mix it up with.

Matthew Hatton isn’t a real big puncher and is more of a boxer with decent skills. He’ll have to improve though if he wants to compete for better titles than the IBO belt.

As for Ricky Hatton, he’s still trying to decide what to do with his career. Hatton was brutally knocked out by Manny Pacquiao in May, and since then Hatton has been slow to get back his drive to continue fighting. Some boxing people want Hatton to retire, while others think he should stick it out and continue fighting.

Hatton has a lot of opportunities available to him should he opt to fight on with his boxing career, for example, a fight against World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan. That’s a fight that many boxing fans want to see, not just in the UK but all around the world. Hatton, however, says that he won’t fight Khan unless he can promote the bout. That is going to be an obstacle in the future, because Khan’s promoter might not be open to that idea.
