jones4367By Liam Santiago: It might be fifth ten years too late, but finally, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jnr have finally agreed to fight in early 2010, providing Roy Jones beats Danny Green on December 2nd in their scheduled boxing event in Sydney, Australia. Although both fighters are past their prime, this is not a pointless fight, they are both still doing very well and, personally, I can’t wait. A 50-50 split is in place for the bout, however, if a knock out occurs then the loser will take a 40% split with the winner taking 60%.

Both fighter’s are coming of an excellent run of wins. Roy Jones recently stopped Jeff Lacy, in a bout he looked absolutely fantastic, although Lacy is no Hopkins by any stretch. Also, recently he has beat Felix Trinidad and stopped Omar Sheika. He also went the distance with Calzaghe in a fight thay had me confused. Jones looked like he could have took Calzaghe out after the first round knock down, but he held back. He did not seem to fight back through the whole bout, yet he seemed able to. That had me confused, it seemed he wanted the Welsh man to win.

Hopkins’ last outing saw him school undefeated Kelly Pavlik in a completely one sided bout. Hopkin’s also lost to Calzaghe, but the decision was controversial. Many saw Hopkin’s as the winner. The bout was surely deserving of a rematch but I think Calzaghe had seen enough of Hopkins to last him a lifetime.
