The Edner Cherry vs Anthony Peterson fight that was scheduled to take place on the undercard of the Miguel Cotto vs. Mike Jennings fight, has been cancelled due to a knee injury by Anthony Peterson.

WBC USNBC lightweight title holder Edner “Cherry Bomb” Cherry (24-6, 12 KO’s) was scheduled to step back into the ring at Madison Square Garden, on February 21st against lightweight contender Anthony Peterson (28-0, 19KO’s). Cherry last fought in September, losing a world title bid against WBC light welterweight title holder Timothy Bradley. Cherry will take about a week off and then resume his training, so he can step up to the next challenge. Cherry said he is very disappointed in the cancellation, but it will give him more time to spend with his wife and children, with whom he is very close.

Edner Cherry will address the cancellation as a guest of “Talking Boxing with Billy C” show on February 17th at 7:00am EST. This show will be broadcast nationwide on www.talkingboxing.com

AL BERNSTEIN REUNITES WITH FORMER PARTNER

When Al Bernstein serves as analyst on the pay per view telecast of the February 21st Miguel Cotto-Micheal Jennings welterweight title card, he will reunite with former ESPN Sportscenter partner Charley Steiner.

Steiner, now the play by play voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will be ringside calling the action with Al. They were teamed on coverage of all the major boxing matches for Sportscenter on ESPN for almost 15 years, including upsets like George Foreman over Michael Moorer and Evander Holyfield over Mike Tyson, and many major fights like Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad.

“It will be fun to work with Charley again. We have some great memories of covering the most important matches of the last couple of decades. And, working with him at Madison Square Garden makes it even more special,” Bernstein said. He added,” This match is an important one for Miguel Cotto coming off his loss to Antonio Margarito, and Michael Jennings is a good fighter and more than a live underdog in this match.”

A preview of the Cotto-Jennings match and the Kelly Pavlik-Marco Antonio Rubio middleweight title match on this pay per view card can be found at the Al Bernstein Boxing Channel (ABBC) at www.ibnsports.com. Al offers a comprehensive preview of these fights, including his keys to victory.

The Top Rank pay per view telecast begins at 9 p.m. eastern standard time in the United States. Check local cable
