MAURICIO SULAIMAN THROWS FIRST PITCH AT MIAMI MARLINS – ST. LOUIS CARDINALS GAME
At Marlins Stadium, the president of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaiman, recalled his teenage days as a pitcher and threw the first pitch of the game between Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals.
The boxing leader wore a customized jersey with the name “Sulaiman” and number five in the back.
This ceremony is an old tradition in baseball, where the guests of honor have the opportunity to throw the first pitch announcing the start of the game.
For Mauricio Sulaiman this was an emotional and unforgettable experience, it is well known that one of his passions is baseball, where he was an ace when he was a youngster.
After throwing the ball, Don Mauricio met with the Marlins, took pictures with them and gave away WBC official items, then enjoyed this important game with Jeffrey Loria, owner of the Marlins.
MAURICIO SULAIMAN PRESENTED WITH KEYS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI
World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman was presented with The Keys to the City of Miami by its Mayor, Tomas Regalado, in a brilliant ceremony at City Hall.
Mayor Regalado started this act by remembering that in the same place back on August 20th, 2013, he had the privilege of honoring the “Father of Boxing” Don José Sulaimán. This time he had the honor of presenting the Keys to the City to Jose´s son Mauricio Sulaiman for his outstanding support encompassing boxing.
“It is an extraordinary privilege for me receiving this great distinction. I have mixed emotions. As Mayor Reglado mentioned, my dear father was once here in this place receiving this same honor.
“I am deeply thankful and grateful to Mayor Tomas Regalado, and as the son of Jose Sulaiman, I am committed to keep working for benefit of our beloved sport,” said Mauricio.
Major Regalado also stressed his desire for Miami to again thrive as a hub of boxing, as was the case some years ago. He even offered his full support for the WBC to celebrate its 2017 Convention of 2017 in beautiful Miami.
Mauricio was accompanied by his son, José Sulaiman, ESPN analyst Fernando Barbosa, Mexican promoter Pepe Gómez, Bismarck Morales, who’s a member of the WBC ranking committee, President of the Tijuana Boxing commission, Juan Carlos Pelayo, artistic promoter Cristian Bedoya, and other personalities.
