Would Mayweather have beaten Pacquiao?

Image: Would Mayweather have beaten Pacquiao?By Dave Lahr: Since the potential mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao appears all but finished, boxing fans are left to wonder what might have happened had the stars of the sport fought on March 13th. We’ll probably never know at this point. However, it seems likely that Pacquiao would have had huge problems with the size, reach and boxing ability of Mayweather.

Pacquiao vs. Malignaggi: What a total mismatch

Image: Pacquiao vs. Malignaggi: What a total mismatchBy Chris Williams: With the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight out the window because the two fighters couldn’t come to an agreement about the drug testing methods, Top Rank promoter, Bob Arum, has said that they’re looking at replacing Mayweather with former IBF light welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi for the March 13th date at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. My question is this: Couldn’t the Pacquiao team found a little better opponent than Malignaggi to fight?

Mayweather versus Pacquiao: If the Fight does not Happen, Floyd will have Blood on His Hands

Image: Mayweather versus Pacquiao: If the Fight does not Happen, Floyd will have Blood on His HandsBy Giancarlo Malinconico: Floyd Mayweather Jr. initially wanted a 60-40 purse split against Manny Pacquiao. But eventually Mayweather realized his unreasonable demand would be looked upon as an excuse to avoid fighting the Pac man. Next, Mayweather wanted the fight at 154 pounds with 10-ounce gloves, granting him an obvious weight advantage against the smaller Pacquiao.

Pacquiao sues Mayweather: It looks as if the fight will never happen now

By Eric Thomas: Last night it was learned that World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao plans on suing Floyd Mayweather Jr., Floyd Sr. and Golden Boy Promotions for false accusations related to Pacquiao using performance enhancing drugs. Regardless of whether the suit is eventually thrown out or not or ends up sticking, this may be the final nail in the coffin for the proposed mega fight. It’s hard to imagine that the Mayweather and Pacquiao fight will take place now with a lawsuit weighing them down. If Pacquiao is dead certain on suing the Mayweathers, it’s highly unlikely the bout will be repairable.

Arum says Mayweather-Pacquiao fight dead: Manny to fight Malignaggi next

Image: Arum says Mayweather-Pacquiao fight dead: Manny to fight Malignaggi nextBy Eric Thomas: According to news reports, Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum is saying the mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is dead in the water because of the failure of the two parties over the Olympic style drug tests that Mayweather’s team wants. Instead, Pacquiao will go in a different direction and fight Paulie Malignaggi on March 13th. This is a huge letdown to say the least. Malignaggi isn’t anywhere close to being as good as Mayweather, and was stopped last year in the 11th round by Ricky Hatton.

Bradley willing to fight Pacquiao or Mayweather

Image: Bradley willing to fight Pacquiao or MayweatherBy Chris Williams: With the bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao not doing well because of Pacquiao’s reluctance to take random Olympic style drug tests, unbeaten World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (25-0, 11 KO’s) is willing to step in and take on either Mayweather or Pacquiao, according to Fight News. Bradley, a total professional, is even willing to move up to welterweight to make a fight with those two. By choosing Bradley as an alternative, Pacquiao and Mayweather can’t go wrong. Bradley is considered to be the best fighter in the light welterweight division by many boxing experts.

Of Superstition & Old Wives’ Tales: Pacquiao vs. Mayweather

Image: Of Superstition & Old Wives’ Tales: Pacquiao vs. MayweatherBy Steve Lewis: We have seen and heard about it many times already on the internet, the television, and even on the radio: the biggest fight of the decade could go down the tubes over drug testing procedures!

Rather than rehash what many others have already said, allow me to touch up on the mindset of superstitious people (and believe me, there are plenty of them in professional sports), and the impact of breaking superstition.

Are the Pound for Pound Kings – Mayweather and Pacquiao – damaging boxing?

Image: Are the Pound for Pound Kings - Mayweather and Pacquiao - damaging boxing?By Shaun Campbell: Mind games, promotional hype, or are the fighters simply scared of each other? It seems to be one problem after another for the Pacquiao/Mayweather super-fight proposed to take place on March 13th. The fight has neither been announced or called off yet, but constant obstacles seem to be hindering progress. These two men are the pound of pound kings, so it’s about time they started acting like the champions they really are.

The guy has tattoos everywhere; he’s tattooed from top to bottom. You’re telling me he’s afraid of needles?”
