By Scott Gilfoid: Man, I wouldn’t even waste my time anymore trying to negotiate a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. if I was Manny Pacquiao. He and his promoter Bob Arum already drew a line in the sand and said they don’t want to take any blood tests within 30 days of their March 13th fight, but Golden Boy Promotions and Mayweather are still trying to get blood testing done within that time parameter. I say forget the Mayweather bout. Pacquiao needs to move ahead and fight former IBF light welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi.

By Jim Dower: In an article from the Los Angeles Times today, they’re reporting Bob Arum, the promoter of World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, has given a counteroffer to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, saying that Arum wants an agreement by this Monday from Floyd Mayweather Jr. to have unlimited random urine tests, and the let the Nevada Athletic Commission decide on whether any extra blood tests are needed beyond the two blood tests that Pacquiao has already agreed upon.

They need just follow the rules that they usually have for Nevada fights and stick with testing urine. Either that, or go with the three blood tests that Pacquiao already agreed with – one in January, and the another 30 days before the bout, and the final one after the fight.

Before that announcement, the Mayweather’s had been trying without success to get Pacquao to take a random Olympic style drug test, which Pacquiao wanted no part of. The fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao has dissolved because of this one issue. However, if the Mayweather’s back off for their request for Pacquiao to take the blood tests, will Pacquiao forget about his lawsuit and then take the fight?

Malignaggi is obviously overjoyed at being considered as an opponent for Pacquiao, because this will mean he would be getting the biggest payday of his career if he ends up being picked over the other fighters that Top Rank is considering.
