Spence thinks Thurman doesn’t want to take the fight with him. He won’t commit to the fight. When the two of them were sitting next to each other last Saturday during a Showtime Boxing interview, Thurman wouldn’t look at Spence during the entire time they were sitting.

1/4 year report: Boxing in 2017 so far

Image: 1/4 year report: Boxing in 2017 so far

By Gav Duthie: In my opinion this has already been the best year of boxing in many a long time. The threat from UFC is real, flagging PPV numbers and general disillusionment with big fights failing to materialise or failing to deliver. Boxing is fighting back. To be just over 3 months into the year and had so many big fights is unprecedented these days. We have seen unifications between James DeGale and Badou Jack, Keith Thurman/Danny Garcia, Julius Indongo/Ricky Burns and not far off from Anthony Joshua v Wladimir Klitschko. The governing bodies are starting to work together, the television network game is changing and big fights are happening. Here is my best picks of the year so far.

Chavez Jr. blasts Canelo; Thurman wants Pacquiao – News

Image: Chavez Jr. blasts Canelo; Thurman wants Pacquiao - News

By Dan Ambrose: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) sees Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) as a fighter that doesn’t have his feet on the ground as far his big ego goes, and he plans on putting his feet back on solid earth when he fights him next month in their fight on May 6 on HBO pay-per-view. Chavez Jr. thinks Canelo is too cocky and he thinks he believes he’s going to easily win their fight, but he’s got something in store for him.

Thurman = The true 147lb king and Pacquiao the top fight

Image: Thurman = The true 147lb king and Pacquiao the top fight

By Jaime Ortega: A lot people claim the winner of Kell Brook and Errol Spence Jr., will determine who the best boxer at the welterweight division is. That is absolutely absurd and somewhat disrespectful to the new unified American champion at 147lbs.

Keith Thurman toyed with Danny Garcia and has the best resume in the welterweight division outside of veteran Manny Pacquiao – Timothy Bradley is number three. Thurman knocked out via body punch the most underestimated boxer in the welterweight division, Diego Chaves, and gave him his first loss during his prime – a task Brandon Rios and Timothy Bradley could not accomplish.

Mikey, 29, says he would move up to fight Thurman for his titles, and then move back down to the lightweight division to try and unify the titles. Mikey still has to win the WBA, IBF and WBO belts in that division.

Floyd Mayweather should fight Keith Thurman

Image: Floyd Mayweather should fight Keith Thurman

By Jaime Ortega: Officially retired, Floyd Mayweather Jr. spoke his opinion on Keith Thurman Jr. versus Danny Garcia and took a few jabs at both fighters. “That fight should have not taken place now,” Mayweather said. “At my age, they still are no competition for me.”

There is no doubt Floyd is one of the most pure technically gifted boxers to ever lace a pair of gloves. Thurman at times acknowledges and praises Floyd for his prowess and the way he defeats his opponents. But Thurman has also openly spoken about the problem of the Floyd era and how it hurt boxing while he reigned supreme and undefeated.

Mayweather comments on Thurman-Garcia, says there’s no competition for him

Image: Mayweather comments on Thurman-Garcia, says there’s no competition for him

By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. saw last Saturday’s unification fight between WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman and WBC champion Danny Garcia, and he wasn’t impressed with what he saw from them. The 40-year-old Mayweather says there still isn’t any competition for him in the sport.

Thurman, 28, would likely beg to differ with Mayweather’s comment. Some of those right hands that Thurman was hitting Garcia with in the first four rounds would have likely landed on Mayweather’s chin if he was the one sharing the ring with him. Thurman would be a very tough fight for the ring rusty Mayweather, who hasn’t fought in 2 years since his win over Andre Berto in 2015. Mayweather is now retired from boxing, and just looking to snag a fight against non-boxer Conor McGregor.

Porter faces Berto to earn Thurman fight

Image: Porter faces Berto to earn Thurman fight

By Eric Baldwin: Shawn Porter will be attempting to earn his way to a rematch against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Keith Thurman when he fights Andre Berto (31-4, 24 KOs) in a WBC 147 lb. eliminator match next month on April 22 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Porter (25-2-1, 16 KOs) wants a second chance against Thurman to avenge his loss to him last year.

It might take a while before Porter gets a second shot against Thurman, because he could be facing Danny Garcia in a rematch in the next four months. If that fight happens, Thurman will surely take a stay busy fight in his match after that one.
