By Dave Lahr: In the latest boxing news, trainer Freddie Roach says he wants Manny Pacquiao to face the winner of the May 1st fight between Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Roach seems to think that beyond this fight, there’s not much else out there for Pacquiao to fight. In an article at USA Today, Roach says “If the winner of the Mayweather-Mosley fight doesn’t come around, where do we have to go? Without Mayweather, there’s nothing else to prove. Let’s face it. The people … want to see Mayweather and Pacquiao fight.”

It has since been brought to my attention that Stubhub.com allows fans to sell tickets to other fans. It appears (to me at least) to be a legal form of scalping online. Stubhub, from my current understanding doesn’t directly sell tickets to events, but simply allows people with tickets to events to sell them.

However, most thought Cotto still needed some more experience before stepping up to someone as good as Mayweather. This was pointed out by Chris Ackerman of Doghouseboxing.com on October 16, 2005 when he reported, “…no one in the Cotto camp is foolish enough to look for it (a fight with Mayweather) anytime soon. They know, as do most analysts, that Cotto has a lot of things to work on before he is ready for the likes of Floyd Mayweather.”
Roach thinks Pacquiao should retire after Mayweather fight, says he might retire too

Roach seems to be overlooking completely the threat that Pacquiao has in front of him with a fight against Joshua Clottey bearing down on the Filipino fighter on March 13th. But Roach must be feeling pretty confident about Pacquiao’s chances in that fight for him to look ahead the way he is for a fight against Mayweather.

By Chris Williams: World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley would prefer to win by a knockout over unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. and thinks he can take him out if he gets hurt when they go at it in their May 1st mega fight at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. In an article at RingTV.com, Mosley says “I’d love to win by knockout [against Mayweather], so if I can catch him with a good shot and he wobbles, we’ll see a knockout, but if that doesn’t happen, I’ll have to do whatever it takes to beat Floyd round by round.”

This is a fight that matches Mayweather, a fighter that doesn’t like to mix it up very much, against Mosley who has a crowd pleasing style of fighting that could bring in boxing fans from all nationalities in the U.S.
