Mayweather praying for Pacquiao defeat?

Image: Mayweather praying for Pacquiao defeat?By Gary E G: No I’m not trying to contradict myself, I would just like to respond to some comments that were left on an article I wrote yesterday. Some commentators seemed to believe that I thought Mayweather was overlooking Mosley and only had his mind on a Pacquiao super bout. Others believed that Mayweather would be praying Pacquiao would be defeated because he is scared to face him. This misses the point of what i was trying to say.

Mayweather to Hatton: “This is a young man’s game”

Image: Mayweather to Hatton: “This is a young man’s game”By Sean McDaniel: Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. has some words of advice to Ricky Hatton, telling him “This is a young man’s game,” according to news from the Daily Express. “He [Hatton] will have to train a lot harder to get back into the shape he was and he has got to ask himself a lot of questions.” Hatton, 31, hasn’t fought since May when he was cruelly taken out in the 2nd round by Manny Pacquiao and knocked cold in the process.

Mosley: “”I’m going to knock him [Mayweather] out” – News

Image: Mosley: “"I'm going to knock him [Mayweather] out” - NewsBy Eric Thomas: World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) made it clear how serious he is about his May 1st bout against unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr., saying “I don’t play. I give 100 percent. I’m going to give everything that I have. Mayweather knows that.” Mosley, now thirty-eight, has wanted to get a shot at a big money fight against Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao for the past few years but has been virtually ignored by them for some reason. It seemed like he was never going to get a shot against either of them until recently when Mayweather was unable to negotiate a fight with Pacquiao.

Mosley looked more than a match for Mayweather at yesterday’s press conference

By Jim Dower: Floyd Mayweather Jr. looked for once in his life out of his element at yesterdays’ press conference in Manhattan, New York. In 10 of Mayweather’s last 11 fights, he’s been the taller fighter than his opponent. Yesterday, it was the 38-year-old Mosley who was clearly the taller fighter and also seemed to have the bigger frame as well. Additionally, Mayweather has had a huge advantage with his trash talking of opponents recently, getting the better of Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Schaefer predicts 3 million PPV buys for Mayweather-Mosley

By Sean McDaniel: At yesterday’s press conference in New York, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer made a bold prediction, stating that the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley bout will sell 3 million pay per view buys on May 1st.

That’s an excellent number if this was a fight that matched two huge mega stars, but Mosley might not be a big enough pay per view attraction to help Mayweather attain those kinds of numbers. There’s also a big question as to whether Mayweather in his own right is a big per view star to get those kinds of numbers.

Was the Mayweather-Mosley altercation staged?

Image: Was the Mayweather-Mosley altercation staged?By Chris Williams: In today’s press conference at the Nokia Theater in Manhattan, New York, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley were briefly involved with a brief shoving match after the two of them met at the center of the stage to stare each other down and exchange trash talk. Mayweather gave Mosley a shove that looked as staged as I’d ever seen. Mosley didn’t look the least surprised by the shove and immediately came after Mayweather and grabbed both of his hands and seemed to be in control after that.

Mayweather and Mosley Both Address Mosley’s Drug Past

Image: Mayweather and Mosley Both Address Mosley's Drug PastBy Ryan Dunn: In the kick-off press conference this afternoon for the Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley megafight scheduled for May 1, 2010, there was very little in the way of fireworks. Nobody was thrown off the stage, no flags were tossed into the crowd, nobody got sucker punched, shoved, or called bad names. Both of the fighters — and their respective teams — seemed to have an amicable, positive attitude toward one another. Shane definitely seemed like the “lucky one”, stating, “It’s been a long time since I got a chance to show the world that I’m the best fighter. And that’s all I really want.”

The Mayweather-Mosley fight is sucking the air out of Pacquiao-Clottey

Image: The Mayweather-Mosley fight is sucking the air out of Pacquiao-ClotteyBy Esteban Garduno: After only one press conference, the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley news has pretty much taken all the air out of the upcoming March 13th fight between World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey. You can make an argument that both Mosley and Mayweather are better speakers, better at the promotional side of things, but whatever the case, the Mayweather-Mosley fight appears to be shoving news about the Clottey vs. Pacquiao fight off the front page.

Shouldn’t Mayweather be applauded for wanting testing for PEDs?

Image: Shouldn’t Mayweather be applauded for wanting testing for PEDs?By Chris Williams: I may be missing something here, but I don’t understand how Floyd Mayweather Jr. can be vilified for wanting his opponents to agree to random blood testing for performance enhancing drugs like human growth hormone (HCG). If this is something that can only help the sport by getting rid of dirty fighters that bulk up on growth hormone, which some people say can’t be detected by the old methods of urinalysis alone, why is Mayweather considered a bad person for wanting this? If you were a fighter, wouldn’t you want your opponent to agree to these tests if you felt that they were juicing?
