By Wilmar Patino (Boxing’s Finest): In what is turning out to be a very exciting year in Boxing we now have Lucas Matthysse vs. former WBO light welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov to add to the list. The bout is to take place at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, in Verona, New York, USA. According to Steve Kim the fight is a done deal. As part of a split side double header HBO will also feature Terrance Crawford vs. most likely Thomas Dulorme in action in the 140 pound division.

With this news I can only say expect an entertaining war while it lasts. Ruslan Provodnikov easily dispatched former 40-year-old IBF lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo last time we saw him last year in November 2014 in Moscow, Russia. Provodnikov stopped Castillo in the 5th round in a one-sided fight from start to finish. As for Lucas Matthysse, he won by a 2nd round KO last time out by a devastating body shot in defeating Roberto Ortiz last year in September in a fight that took place at the U.S Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. What we have here are two power punchers who are known as the beasts of the junior welterweight division colliding for the world to watch. Both men pack a tremendous punch.
