clip_image006By Shane Newsome: With again another packed schedule on both sides of the Atlantic we have busy cards in UK, USA but also action from Argentina and Germany with fights not to be missed, so let’s take a look at what we have in store.

First we go to Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK and the main event Amir Khan (27-3) vs Julio Diaz (40-7-1) this fight should just be another stepping stone for the 26 year-old Brit even a Diaz in his absolute prime should be easy work for someone as skilled as Khan look for him to get Julio out of there around the mid-late rounds anything else and maybe Khan will deserve the criticism he will most definitely receive, if he does win this fight in easy fashion like expected you would hope he would now step back up to world level and try and avenge on of his recent defeats like he has talked about, we will soon see.

Also on this card perhaps the most intriguing fight of the night between Deontay Wilder (27-0) and Audley Harrison (31-6) now both these fighter are gentlemen and true professionals and don’t deserve the bad press they often get Deontay steps up to this fight unbeaten and with 27 early knock outs to his name though the reason this fight isn’t already a forgone conclusion is that a step up for Wilder is exactly what this is and dependent on which Harrison turns up on the night the moose in headlights Audley or the trim slick fighter with knock-out power he can be will determine if we have a real close fight on our hands here, look for a KO here and probably an early one, could go either way if a game Harrison shows up but the smart money might be on Wilder to finish off the 41 year-old Brit.

also on this exciting card see’s 2012 Olympic Middleweight Bronze Medalist Anthony Ogogo’s professional debut look for him to have and early night as he gets an exciting pro career underway, another debutante on the night is Haroon Khan at Super-flyweight younger brother of Amir, look for him to to have a relatively easy night though living in the shadows of his more famous brother may be all he can hope for out of this venture, the only other interest on this card see’s young unbeaten British Lightweight Terry Flannigan (19-0) take on aging former champion 41 year-old Nate Campbell (36-10-1) in what could announce the Brit on a higher stage if he is worthy if not look for Nate to make it a tough night for him.

Next we are off to Alsterdorf, Hamburg, Germany and in action are #1 WBO Light-heavyweight contender Juergen Braehmer (39-2), unbeaten light middleweight Jack Culcay (14-0) and also unbeaten light-heavyweight Dustin Dirks (27-0) in some bad match-making all have bouts they should easily win, Braehmer’s is just a tune up for a fight later in the year with WBO champion Nathan Cleverly, Culcay is still on his way up yet has the tougher fight on the night though still an easily winnable one for the young German, as for Dirks he really is being taken slow and in recent fights you can see why he hasn’t looked beyond the level he is fighting at at all and would only get found out if he stepped into the ring with another contender like Tony Bellew or Isaac Chilemba but he should still win here comfortably.

Now to cross the Atlantic and over Ontario, California, USA and the main event here is the only fight worth a look at between heavyweights Chris Arreola (35-2) and Bermane Stiverne (20-1-1) this is a real 50/50 fight and it is why American Arreola is so likable he is one of only a few heavyweights out there aswell as Derek Chisora who is truly willing to face anybody on the day I see Chris being a little too experienced and strong for US based Haitian Bermane and winning by a possible late TKO and future fight against the aforementioned Chisora would be a great one and one that would entertain all boxing fans though one I think we aren’t likely to see sadly.

Staying in the US and over to Brooklyn, New York, USA and the new Barclays Center which has already held some great nights of boxing and the main event see’s Danny Garcia (25-0) vs Zab Judah (42-7) for Garcia’s WBA & WBC Light-welterweight straps, here is a fight that really shouldn’t be happening Judah looked incredibly old in getting stopped by Amir Khan and though this fight has been fiercely promoted we have not seen anything new from the Garcia camp and it is now getting boring watching grown men bicker as much as they do, look for Garcia to slow the 35 year-old former champ with a few heavy body shots before knocking him out just as he did with Khan. Also on this card is a WBO Middleweight championship bout between champ Peter Quillin (28-0) and challenger Fernando Guerrero (25-1) look here for Quillin to make relatively light work in defending his belt and expect a stoppage from the powerful American.

Finally we find ourselves in Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina to see top 5 P4P and WBC Middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2) making a defense of his title against a game unbeaten Brit Martin Murray (25-0-1) look for Martinez to make it seem easy again and a possible late stoppage is on the cards here for me just the same as he dealt with fellow Brit Darren Barker, after this going back for fights with Barker, Matthew Maklin or Andy Lee or a possible mouthwatering tournament between the four would be great to see, as for Martinez he has the option to rematch Chavez Jr should he see fit though a more exciting though perhaps not possible tie between Martinez and light-middleweight Saul Alvarez is a prospect worth hoping for.

Also on this card another Anglo-Argentine bout between Brit Gary Buckland (27-2) and Argentine Fernando Saucedo (48-5-3) here we have a truly intriguing lightweight bout and one where its hard to pick a winner though look for the 32 year-old Argentine to get the decision in his home country over the 26 year-old Welshman in a true close fight, the last fight to look at between Canadian Antonin Decarie (27-1) and Argentine Luis Carlos Abregu (34-1) is another case of good match-making though look for the 29 year-old Argentine to make it a hat-trick of wins for his comrades here. and with that my review for the week is over enjoy the boxing no matter where you are watching it and have a good weekend.
