Mundine: I out-landed Geale 219 to 112; I’m still the Man!

mundine1By Allan Fox: Former two time WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (44-5, 26 KO’s) firmly believe he was robbed by the judges on Wednesday night in his 12 round unanimous decision loss to IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale (29-1-1, 15 KO’s) at the Entertainment Centre, in Sydney, Australia.

Mundine, 37, lost the fight by the scores of 116-112, 117-111 and 117-111. However, after sitting down and watching the fight himself, said he had himself winning by a 116-113 score.

Not only does Mundine feel like he won the fight, but he actually seems to be gloating in his perceived victory, as if it’s a reality instead of something inside of his head.

“Just comes out Mundine out-lands Geale 219 punches to Geale’s 112. Told you so! Still the man. Hate seriously blinds people. I caught him with more shots. I just watch the fight replay ! Now I’m even more convinced I won…it was closer then I thought tho 116-113 Mundine.”

It looks like someone told Mundine that he out-landed Geale by a 2 to 1 margin. I wonder who was keeping track of those punch stats because those numbers don’t seem realistic to what actually happened in the fight. If anyone was out-landed in this fight, it was Mundine because he was out-worked in every round of the fight. Geale was the faster puncher, the busier guy, and the one that was landing most of the shots from what I could see of the fight.

Mundine isn’t going to let Geale have his victory by giving him any credit for it. Geale probably isn’t going to waste his time fighting Mundine for a 3rd time because if he’s unable to see that he was dominated by Geale now, then he’ll likely be the same way in a third fight.

Mundine fought well at times, but he was backed up constantly throughout the fight. Geale was so much faster with his hands and his feet. He was able to get in range, land three or four shots, and then move away before Mundine could respond with much in return.
