Mayweather is Undefeated, Period!

Image: Mayweather is Undefeated, Period!By Robert Elmore: He’s 43 and 0. People call his fights boring and that he’s cherry picking his opponents and yet the pay per view numbers say otherwise. Floyd has problems with southpaws and yet he’s defeated all of them (Zab Judah, Victor Ortiz, DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley, Sharmba Mitchell; with KO’S coming against Ortiz and Mitchell).

Other experts say a good jab and being aggressive is the way to victory. But after eating laser right hands and counter punches to the body, opponents seem to second guess themselves about throwing the jab. If opponent gets over aggressive, they find themselves being picked apart and TKO’D (Chavez) and tasting turnbuckle (Hatton). According to many, Jose Luis Catillio had the perfect formula. Apparently not. If he had the formula, the second fight would have been easy and would have coasted to a lop sided victory. Mayweather is not known for giving rematches, but gave Jose one and left no doubt in the minds of boxing fans who the winner was. By the way, he’s 43 and 0.

He put on a brilliant display against Juan Manuel Marquez after a two year lay off by landing 69 percent of his punches to Marquez 12 percent. The haters say it was the weight that hurt Marquez, yet Marquez gave Pacquiao all he could handle in their third fight. And didn’t Marquez move back up to welter weight to fight Pacquiao after going back down to Juan Diaz? I thought he did. On top of that, it took a trilogy to outdo what Mayweather and Marquez did in one fight. Pac/Marquez 1 did 300,000 buys with the second fight doing 400,000 buys. Their third fight “supposedly” did 1.4 million buys and has yet to be confirmed by HBO officials.

Mayweather/Marquez did 1.05 million their first time out. He’s 43 and 0.

Oscar De La Hoya tried to fix everything to his advantage to win and still lost. De La Hoya chose a smaller ring to keep Floyd from moving around so much. They gave Floyd 10 ounce heavyweight gloves because they probably thought it would slow his hand speed. And they made him come up in weight to get the fight. None of it worked. The experts and haters say that De La Hoya stopped throwing the jab. But there was good reason. It’s called a counter right hand. Many said Floyd was scared of Mosley and that the fight would never happen. People tend to forget Mosley’s “infamous tooth” when Larry Merchant asked him about the fight after he knocked out Fernando Vargas. When the fight took place in 2010, experts said Shane was stronger and faster than Floyd, and this was Floyd’s biggest test. Apparently not. After eating a hard right hand from Mosley (and that’s people only claim to fame to say that Floyd’s losing a step), Floyd dominated the rest of the fight and won a unanimous decision. He’s 43-0, In case you forgot.

Haters claimed Floyd ducked Cotto. Funny thing was when Cotto left Top Rank, the fight was done in no time flat. They say that Cotto pushed Mayweather to the limits. Cotto didn’t bully Mayweather into the ropes. Mayweather CHOSE to do so. When the fight was in the center of the ring, Mayweather popped Cotto at will. Floyd also made an adjustment to with his right hand as well by looping it around Cotto’s guard and didn’t need the straight right hand. The left uppercut was also used. But in typical hater fashion, haters did their best to discredit the fight. Had Floyd knocked out Cotto (which he could have in the 12th round), it would have been “Miguel was a shell of himself and done after the Margarito fight). But since it went the full 12, then it was Mayweather is losing a step and he’s vulnerable. Not only did he beat Cotto, he did it at 154 pounds. At any rate, he’s 43 and 0.

Everybody has the potential to lose when they step in the ring. EVERYBODY from a no name to the big names can be beat. Fight history tells so. Michael Moorer was undefeated when he took on George Foreman. James Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson and became the man. It was short lived however, after being destroyed by Evander Holyfield in the three rounds. Joe Louis tried to make a comeback against Ezarrd Charles and lost. Josesito Lopez upset Victor Ortiz. Mosley lost to a lesser known Vernon Forrest (Forrest was known but not like Mosley was). Orlando Salido beat Juan Manuel Lopez twice. So everybody can be beat. Mayweather has yet. So hate him if you will….it won’t change the fact he’s 43 and 0.
