Having failed at enticing WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko into a fight due to Vitali not taking Huck seriously, Huck is now targeting WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (23-0, 16 KO’s) for a fight and he may get his wish.

Povetkin is mildly interested in facing the 27-year-old Huck, although he wishes Huck would at least prove he’s the best fighter in the cruiserweight division before he does so. Huck defeated contender Denis Lebedev by a questionable 12 round decision last year in a fight where Huck appeared to lose badly.

A lot of boxing fans had Lebedev easily winning that. I personally scored it 10 rounds to 2 for Lebedev. However, the fight took place in Germany and Huck is hard to beat when fighting at home. There is saying that a home fighter gets two rounds right of that bat, but in this case it looked more like 10 rounds because he really got dominated by Lebedev.

Povetkin said this to RT.com: “I would love to see Denis Lebedev face Marco Huck once again, but it looks like it’s my turn to fight him. Well, I’m ready.”
