This is the fight that Haye badly wanted, yet Haye was rejected by Wladimir as unsuitable because of his lack of competitiveness against Wladimir last July. Haye basically fought like a timid rabbit all night long, just running around, using constant head movement to keep from getting hit by Wladimir’s jabs, left hooks and right hands.

It didn’t take a genius to see that Haye was thinking defense only and not even trying to win. So, he stunk out the joint and was rejected by Wladimir when Haye was practically begging for a rematch afterwards.

Having been rejected for a fight against Wladimir, Haye has lashed out at Wladimir’s choice of opponent Mormeck, saying “Wladimir is fighting one of my old victims, Jean-Marc Mormeck, next. That will be one of the most unappealing heavyweight contests for many years. It paints a really bleak picture for the future of the division.”

Doesn’t Haye sound a little envious? Why can’t he be happy for Mormeck in his moment of glory? Haye has his chance and he blew it. At least Haye can do is root on the next guy. Mormeck didn’t ask Haye to retire at 31 and let his last fight be his humiliating loss to Wladimir. That was Haye’s brilliant decision. At least Haye can cheer on the guy because he’s got about as good a chance to beat Wladimir as Haye did. Mormeck is a pumped up crusierweight just like Haye, and he’s going to give it his best try on December 10th. My guess is Mormeck won’t be coming up with a bunch of excuses after he loses.
