Image: Credit Where Credit Is Due - Floyd MayweatherBy Kirill Davydov: How can you blame a fighter for something which is considered LEGAL within the rules and regulations of the sport? The simple answer is that you CANT! Whether you believe that Floyd Mayweather did something that was considered “un-sportsmanlike” in his fight against WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz last night, well all that is an opinion, and we know that everyone has their own.

There is Ortiz’s side of the story, Mayweather’s side of the story, and then there is the TRUE story.

Bottom line is, Ortiz is a young fighter who has a history of frustration, and losing the psychological war within himself. He knew into the 4th round that he was outclassed, and the frustration grew. deeper, he tried to gain the edge over Mayweather by hitting him with what looked like a rhino charge you might see on the discovery channel. The ref took a point, Victor apologized, the ref called “time in”, and the rest like Mayweather said is “all she wrote”. The rules say protect yourself at all times, and if you dont then like it or not you have only yourself to blame. Ortiz could of made the count, but he knew inside that losing like this might cause pity for him, in feeling that he was cheated, rather than losing a lop sided decision.

Consider if this was a criminal case that went to trial, and Mayweather was the defense. If Mayweather did something that was within his constitutional right the court would have say “not guilty”….same thing applies here. Now on the other hand, if you feel that Floyd could of used more class and and just ended the fight later on, then that is your own PERSONAL opinion.
