By Jason Kim: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) will be looking to get an extra edge against his Ukrainian opponent IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) when they battle in June or July in what could be Haye’s last fight of his career if he loses the bout.

Haye plans on retiring in October when he turns 31. However, a loss to Wladimir will pretty much end Haye’s career unless Wladimir wants to give him a rematch or his brother Vitali Klitschko is interested in fighting Haye. This is a do or die fight for Haye, who is going to pull out all the stops to try and upset Wladimir as much as possible to unnerve him before they get it on.

In an article at the dailystar.co.uk, Haye said “I’m going to get under his skin. There are ways to beat Wladimir that have never been tried before.”

Haye’s only chance of winning the fight is if he can upset Wladimir enough for him to abandon his jab and look to slug it out with the shorter Haye and possibly give Haye a chance at landing a big shot. Even then, Haye is likely going to have a lot of problems because Wladimir’s hand speed is just as good as Haye’s, but he’s got a much better left hook and a straight that will likely beat Haye’s looping shots to the punch.

Haye’s fighting style will hurt him in this fight unless he can get Wladimir in close. But before that, Haye hopes to get Wladimir mentally unglued so that Haye can get an extra advantage.
