By Scott Gilfoid: According to Michael Marley of Examiner.com, the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao bout is breathing new life. Marley reports that Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum said that he’s willing to meet with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer next week, as well as the attorneys for Pacquiao and Golden Boy, and see if he can work something out. As things stand now, Pacquiao is going to be starting training next week with trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym, in Los Angeles.
Marley says that Arum is open to meeting with judge Weinstein, the same judge who assisted in mediation with Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions in the past. “Something could be bubbling,” Arum says, hinting that there would be some movement between the hard-line stances between the parties of the two fighters Pacquiao and Mayweather.
As of now, the sticking point is over the random blood tests for drugs that Mayweather wants for the fight to take place. Arum says, “Our first priority, before any fight with anybody, is to clear Manny’s name. Would that be through an apology? I don’t want to get into that.”
This is very interesting. Would Mayweather be willing to make a public apology to Pacquiao about the drug using allegations? I don’t know if I can see Mayweather doing that, but then again he stands to make a lot of money if he did apologize. If it meant getting the fight back on track, and having Pacquiao’s lawsuit for defamation dropped, Mayweather would stand to gain a heck of a lot by doing a bit of groveling.
Arum continues, “I will say that, if they [Golden Boy Promotions CEO Schaefer, Mayweather, and the attorneys from both sides] to meet in front of judge Weinstein on Monday, Tuesday or any day, then we are willing to listen. If some mediation occurs, and I don’t know if it will, then we would have to listen to that.” This sounds very promising. Arum also said that ‘Rumblings” about mediation were given to him by Daniel Petrocelli, the lawyer for Pacquiao.

Lets put things straight… manny never rejected any drug test or is he afraid of needles(he has tattoos all over his body), this is a misconception and misleads ignorant boxing fans, for the record manny subjected himself to NASC random drug test right after this drug test issue exploded, second manny agreed to a three random blood testing… 1st before the fights media conference, 2nd 30 days prior to the fight and 3rd right after fight night (these tests cannot escape pacman if ever he is using PED) eventhough these are not required by the NASC, manny’s camp was so humble that it offered these terms to mayweather’ camp even the latter is not a champion, however floyd was so hardheaded he insists on his own terms and even humiliates pacman over unwarranted media hype, pacman is a true sportsman and has never been found positive in using performance enhancing drugs in all his fights, he live a clean life all his boxing career (unlike the mayweathers who had been invovled in doping issues esp mayweather sr.) now whats the fuzz? it only brings us to reason… floyd is afraid of pacman he is chickening out and is using all reasons for a great escape!

Manny is not being silly, he’s just taking his stand. IF there were no prior accusations from the Mayweather’s camp of accusing him of using drugs and the Nevada State has suddenly required random drug-testing and Manny refused, then the problem might be on Manny.But even during the Pacquiao-Cotto fight, the senior Mayweather has been giving baseless accusations regarding drug-use and now they are even asking for another test that is not mandatory. Picture this, a person who has never had any case of getting things not his yet were subjected to body and belonging search because of a mere accusation and when found out has nothing to hide are still being accused of being a cheat because he refused to take out his undies for them. I will do definitely the same thing the Manny did if I happen to be in his situation.
The problem with the proposed random drug test to be conducted for Pacquiao is that it was clearly not intended to have a clean fight but rather to identify the boxer with performance-enhancing drugs and with it tarnish his credibility as a boxer. It is very insulting for a person who took basic tests required of him and eventually passing all of them to be accused of cheating and eventually subjected to more tests not required but simply asked of him for the suspicion.If you’re not suspicious, why the need for the test that is not a prerequisite. Beyond insult, Pacquiao undergoing such demand will never do good for his image as suggested by some. This test is a double if not triple-edge sword for Manny. For cynics, Pacquiao testing negative on drugs and eventually losing to Mayweather would only result to statements such as “Pacquiao lost as a result of not taking the drug due to test”. The suggestion of Pacquiao using drug to enhance his performace in the ring has made the fight a test if Pacquiao could win without the drug or not rather than if he can beat Mayweather or not.
I just hope that all this commotion brings proper drug testing to boxing that all boxers have to agree to.

That would be interesting to see “Floyd the fraud” apologizing to the real p4p champ. If that happens then we know he’s really in deep trouble financially and needs the money badly. That’s a definite acceptance of defeat outside the ring, and soon to be defeated in the ring, but at least he’s going to get his cool $40mil to pay some of his debts. March 13, 2010 will be the end of “Floyd the Fraud”‘s career, but you will still be hearing from him still claiming to be the best and the real p4p champion because he only got one lost compared to Pacman.
In my very honest opinion, I believe that Mayweather will apologize to Pacquiao, pay him an amount, will come in over the weight of 147lbs., apologize to the country the Philippines, apologize to the boxing fans and will beat Pacquiao in a Unanimous Decision.
It seems that when fans are at a loss for the debate of their fighter, they begin insulting things that do not matter such as prison time done by Floyd’s family, or the rampant prostitution in Pacquiao’s family. None of which matters. I wish everyone could debate the skills of their fighter and leave it at that.

This week I can bet we hear from that whacked Camp (GBP and Fraud productions). It’ll be back on coz they’ve apologized for their wrongful accusations and will not request any other form of drug testing unless required by Nevada. Due to the fact that it’ll be close to 2 weeks since the State commission acquired urine samples from both fighters and the test will prove clean. We can guarantee though some other whacked spin by you know who and his crew. Then it’ll be another week of friendly banter by both sides. The way I see it, the last ploy of the drug testing fiasco. It’s a round 1 for Pac and his team.

One other note, and some of you have mentioned it. The fact that Floyd has to default to “Manny must be on something,” to explain Manny’s dominance will only become a strike in Manny’s favor.
If/when they fight, and Manny comes out squeaky clean in all of his testing (like every one of his 55 professional fights), and if/when he beats Mayweather convincingly, then the entire accusation will become the biggest form of flattery in the history of the sport for a guy who will then become the #1 greatest boxer of all time in the global polls.

1. Manny gave blood 24 days before Hatton fight, check the internet. That’s about the same as the 30 day cut-off he has offered Mayweather.
2. Manny has said he is not effective above a certain weight, when the opponent is a legitimate puncher/boxer like Mayweather/Mosely. That’s why he takes weighing in heavy seriously.
3. Furthermore, unlike Floyd, who is going on suspicion and dust, Manny’s $10M per pound over is based on evidence of Floyd coming in heavy in his LAST FIGHT against JMM.
4. How can you think Manny is ducking JMM? Roach wanted the 3rd JMM fight to be the replacement instead of the Foreman or Malignaggi options. I don’t think you have evidence to support Manny ever ducking. Floyd on the other hand…
5. This is currently a win/win for Manny. Because I believe he is a clean fighter, not using PEDs or HGH or anything else. The best scenario would be for Manny to settle out of court with the Mayweathers, take their money, take an interim fight, then come back and fight Floyd later this year. A win for him would mean everything.
6. Since when is playing by the rules (the Nevada Boxing Commission’s rules) an admission of guilt? Floyd is the one trying to add new mandates to a fighter based on heresay and rumor. It is most likely a scare tactic which back-fired, and if not that, then simply a “way out”. But like Arum said, Mayweather and GBP are boxed in, and will be the ones who come out with egg on their face after forced to apologize.

So Pacquiao’s attorney is trying to find a way to get Manny to drop this lawsuit already? Manny’s lawyer must be feeling pretty confident! Don’t worry though, Manny will continue to duck JMM, Mayweather, and Mosley. And Manny is getting questioned because he suddenly has a lot more power and endurance than before. Ironically this started about the same time that Alex Ariza became Manny’s conditioning coach. Also, Ariza and Manny have both said that only Ariza knows what he’s giving Manny. Manny is getting questioned for the same reason as Barry Bonds did, because they suddenly had a lot more power when they were older. And refusing any random tests without any explanation just draws more suspicion. He’s willing to have blood tests if he knows when they are though. Which makes his argument that he will only go by the regular rules mute. As the $10 million penalty also makes his excuse quite lame. And still no comment from Manny on why he gave blood so close to the Hatton fight since he is superstitious about that now, just 9 months later.

Considering Mayweather is willing to do blood tests to prove his innocence, your accusation holds no weight, unlike Pacquiao.
Mayweather is un-defeated and he is much more muscular looking than Pacquiao. I think PBF is the one on steroids. Plus Mayweather is an American athlete with access to the best steroids and PEDs in the world. American athletes are some of the most juiced in the world. No one from the Phillipines have ever won a gold medal and Americans win the most after China in 2008. We know both US and China is about winning at all cost.

In bouts with similar opponents Mayweather’s ppv numbers have been much bigger. Mayweather/De la Hoya out sold Pacquiao/De la Hoya, Mayweather/Hatton out sold Pacquiao/Hatton & Mayweather/Marquez out sold both Pacquiao/Marquez fights combined. no apology needs to be made, even if there was one, pacquiao’s name would not be cleared. It’s already in the minds of many Boxing fans that if he deny’s the random testing, “the same testing floyd said he would take” then he does nothing but make himself seem guilty. Pacquiao needs to suck it up nd take the tests. Its not like floyd is sayin that pac has to do it but he doesn’t. he said he’d take the same tests at the same times that pacquiao does, so idk wat the problem is. this is the fight everyone wants to see, nd i don’t see wat floyd did wrong. he wants the tests, nd the problem is? if the 48 hrs before the fight blood test is scaring pacquaio into thinking that it would effect him then it would effect floyd also because he’s taking it too. i’m not a fan of floyd, honestly i’m more of a pacman fan, my money would be on him, BUT he is making himself look guilty of something.
