The fight is on pay-per-view for $49.95, but the cost is worth in the eyes of a lot of people because of how interesting this fight is.

If the Mosley-Mayorga fight is even half as exciting as their original fight in 2008, then the fans will have gotten their money’s worth. Mosley rallied in that fight to stop Mayorga in the closing seconds of the 12th round to get the victory.

That fight was seven years ago, and both fighters have aged since then. However, it doesn’t because boxing fans are going to still see a very interesting fight tonight. Mayorga looked good in his last two fights in 2014 in scoring a pair of knockouts in his comeback fights. Mosley impressed in his last two years ago against a much bigger and Anthony Mundine until Mosley’s back tightened up on him forcing the fight to be stopped prematurely.

At 43, Mosley is going to be looking to prove that he’s still got a lot left in the sport after taking a two year break. He says he’s healed up and fighting better than ever. To be sure, Mosley had a wear and tear on his body in the last five years of his career that slowed him down and prevented him from being his best. The two years off has let him rejuvenate his body and regain the strength that he had lost from a series of nagging injuries.

What also is helping Mosley in this particular fight is he went up to 159. This means that he’ll have more power. Mosley didn’t have to drain down water weight to make weight. He actually had to gain weight to fight the bigger and some would day the stronger 41-year-old Mayorga.

Mosley is going to have to deal somehow with Mayorga’s superior power and size that he’ll have in this fight, because the last time they faced each other in 2008, Mayorga was giving Mosley a great deal of problems with his looping shots to the head. Mosley looked timid and unsure of himself at times in that fight. Mayorga was really getting the better of Mosley through much of the fight. It wasn’t until the later rounds where Mosley was able to come on a little and win some rounds.

In looking at the two fighters’ last fights, Mayorga is looking very good, and more than a handful. Mosley is going to need to try and come up with some punching power to deal with Mayorga’s pressure. If Mosley doesn’t have anything to keep Mayorga off of him then this fight could turn out to be very one-sided. Mayorga is the younger guy at 41, the bigger guy and the stronger guy. I think he’s got more left in the tank right now than Mosley. If Mosley is able to regain his form from 2009, when he defeated Antonio Margarito, then Mayorga will be in trouble tonight.
