Chad Dawson: They must want to throw me out of the game

Fight Night-0001(Photo Credit: Amanda Kwok / SHOWTIME) By Allan Fox: Former IBF/WBC 175 pound champion Chad Dawson (32-4, 18 KOs) is convinced that the powers that be are looking to throw him out of the sport of boxing following his close 10 round split decision loss to Tommy Karpency (24-4-1, 14 KOs) last night in Dawson’s fight on Showtime from the Foxwoods Resort, in Mashantucket, Connecticut, USA.

Dawson was a huge favorite to win the fight coming in. Indeed, he was a 25:1 favorite to defeat Karpency, who had never beaten anyone remotely talented before in his 8 year pro career. But Dawson failed to fight as hard as he needed to in order to impress the three judges, especially late in the fight when he was outworked by Karpency.

The 32-year-old Dawson has lost 2 out of his last 3 fights, and he’s in a situation here where he cannot afford to lose if he wants to try and bring his career back to it’s former level. Dawson’s career has taken a major hit with knockout losses to Andre Ward and Adonis Stevenson. Dawson is ranked at #14 by the World Boxing Council, and he’s got a long ways to go if his goal is to try and fight Stevenson a second time to try and avenge his loss to him.

Chad Dawson faces Tommy Karpency on 10/4

dawson4545By Allan Fox: Former WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (32-3, 18 KOs) will be fighting next month against former world title challenger Tommy Karpency (23-4-1, 14 KOs) in a scheduled 10 round bout on October 4th at the Foxwoods Resort, in Mashantucket, Connecticut, USA.

For the 32-year-old Dawson, this is his 2nd fight of his comeback. He defeated George Blades by a 1st round knockout last June in an impressive performance. Dawson was overweight in that fight and he looked like he hadn’t trained hard for the fight.
