According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, over 20,000 tickets were sold in just the first three bouts today by eager boxing fans, the first day that the Pacquiao-Clottey tickets were put on sale.

Pacquiao could end up taking heavy punishment from Clottey, even if Manny wins the fight. It might be too high of a price for Pacquiao to pay in winning if he ends up getting hurt and it causing him problems in future fights.

By Daved Lahr: Freddie Roach, the trainer of Manny Pacquiao, sees the March 13th match-up between former IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey and current WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao as being the better fight for fans compared to a bout between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., which was going to take place on the same date. That fight didn’t happen because Mayweather and Pacquiao couldn’t agree on the random blood testing for the fight. In an article at Fight Hype, Roach says “This is a much better fight for the fans, I think, and for the people…He [Clottey] is the number one contender, he’s completely the opposite of what Mayweather brings to the table.”

Manny fights every second of every round and Clottey doesn’t do that. He just raises his arms.” I think what Roach is talking about with Clottey is that he often spends a considerable amount of time in every round just covering up and trying to block incoming fire. In that regards, Clottey’s style is much like Super Six tournament super middleweight contestant Arthur Abraham, who often spends much of every round just covering up and looking to block punches.

With a huge stadium and all the build up for this March 13th fight, this was a really boring press conference. Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboy owner gave a long winded speech following by an introduction of some old boxers and football players to start things off.
