Holt to be used as sparring partner for Pacquiao

holt32335By Chris Williams: Michael Koncz, the adviser for Manny Pacquiao, will be bringing 32-year-old Kendall Holt into camp to help Pacquiao with sparring to get him fine-tuned for his fight with WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) on April 12th. Holt will be helping out once Pacquiao hits LA to start training at his trainer Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym. It’s unclear who’s idea it was to use Holt.

If it was Koncz’s idea then I think Roach needs to be a little more involved in the selection process for the sparring partner. Holt is kind of up there in age, and he’s not someone that fights anything like Bradley.

Roach still hoping Pacquiao will find the fountain of youth for Bradley rematch

pac89898By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach is still longing for the lost yesterdays of his fighter Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) as he approaches his rematch against WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) in their rematch on April 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roach wants Pacquiao to be like he was when he was in his 20s and fighting at a super high level with tons of aggression. The problem is Pacquiao is 35-years-old now, and he’s never going to see 25 again.

The 20s are gone for Pacquiao, and he’s just going to have to make do with what he has left in the tank. But Roach still wants Pacquiao to try and fight like he used to, and he gets happy when he sees Paquiao fighting in a fierce manner.

Pacquiao back with Justin Fortune to get ready for Bradley

pac45454By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) will be helped out with his training by strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune when Pacquiao arrives back in the United States to start working out at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California. Pacquiao recently let go his valuable S & C coach Alex Ariza, the guy who arguably was responsible for making Pacquiao a success at welterweight.

Ariza lasted 4 years with Pacquiao from 2008 to 2012 before falling out with trainer Freddie Roach led to his dismissal. Now that Ariza is gone, Pacquiao is in need of a new S & C coach, and that’s where Fortune comes in.

Bradley surprised the he’s the underdog against Pacquiao

pac555(Photo credit: Chris Farina/Tom Rank) By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) is still more than a little mystified by the fact that hes the underdog against Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) for their upcoming April 12th fight. Bradley feels that Pacquiao should be the underdog considering that he was recently knocked out cold by Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012. This is the same Marquez that Bradley easily beat by a 12 round decision last October.

Bradley thinks it’s funny how fans select Pacquiao to beat him when they should be backing him in this fight.

bradley66671By Alon Calinao Dy: Timothy Bradley, Jr., an undefeated American boxer, is going to defend his WBO welterweight title for a second against the national pride of the Philippines and one and only eight – division world champion Manny Pacquiao on April 12, 2014 at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bradley: Mayweather can fight the winner of Pacquiao-Bradley II

floyd423By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) still hasn’t even fought Manny Pacqiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) for the second time yet, and he’s already talking about wanting to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. Bradley’s hope is that Mayweather will decide on fighting him despite him recently signing a 2-year contract extension with Top Rank that will take him until 2017. Bradley thinks Mayweather can ignore the Top Rank issues and decide to fight him anyway.

“When Floyd wants to fight one of us or the winner of this fight he can do that. He’s his own boss,” Bradley said to thaboxingvoice. “I’m on my own course [with Top Rank]. If he wants to get on my course, he can get on my course.”

Arum thinks Pacquiao’s elusiveness is key to him beating Bradley

pac673By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum thinks that his fighter Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) is slowly finding his way back to the way he used to fight many years ago when he was hitting guys and then trying to get out of the way of their shots. Arum thinks Pacquiao got stuck with a bad habit of trying to overpower his opponents following his 2nd round KO win over Ricky Hatton in 2009 rather than staying with his elusive style of fighting that had made Pacquiao what he was.

After Pacquiao’s win over Hatton, he beat Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito and Juan Manuel Marquez before suffering back to back losses to Tim Bradley and Marquez. In his last fight, Pacquiao beat Brandon Rios. Arum thinks that Pacquiao went back to his elusive style of fighting in the Rios fight, and he sees him as being back to where he was in 2009 now with his focus on being hit without getting hit back.

Bradley’s camp convinced he’ll beat Pacquiao

pac857By Alon Calinao Dy: Trainer Joel Diaz believes that his fighter WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) is now going to beat a former pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) after defeating Pacquiao conqueror Juan Manuel Marquez last year in October.

However, long-time coach Freddie Roach of the Filipino boxing icon simply never minds the opinion with Bradley’s trainer. This time, the unbeaten American boxer could never cheat the outcome of the contest because Pacquiao will leave no trace for Bradley to win even by unanimous decision. As everyone would remember that Bradley struggled on his fight against Russia’s Ruslan Provodnikov, and everybody knew how difficult it was for Bradley to face an aggressive fighter like Pacquiao. But he schooled Juan Manuel Marquez, who knocked out Pacquiao a couple of years ago, and considered as a greatest counter-puncher – second to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Roach doesn’t think Bradley can beat Pacquiao backing up all night

bradley787By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) has already said that he’s not going to stand in one place and let the Filipino star Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) land his power shots when the fight on April 12th. Bradley says he’s going to use movement, and pick his spots for when he feels that Pacquiao is vulnerable for his attacks.

Bradley thinks Pacquiao can’t handle movement, and doesn’t know how to cut off the ring on his opponents. Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach doesn’t see Bradley’s movement working this time around like it did in their fight in 2012, because Pacquiao will be staying right with Bradley no matter where he goes in the ring. He’s not going to give Bradley any space.
