Don’t be surprised if Pacquiao takes a beating from Clottey

Image: Don’t be surprised if Pacquiao takes a beating from ClotteyBy Esteban Garduno: As soon as I found out that Manny Pacquiao and his team chose to fight Joshua Clottey rather than stay and negotiate a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., I saw it as a fatal mistake by Pacquiao’s team. Mayweather has no power to speak of and only sparingly throws punches nowadays for some reason. Clottey is a whole different breed of fighter altogether. Clottey has superb hand speed, good power and isn’t afraid to take the fight to his opponent.

Clottey won’t wear down or back off against Pacquiao like Miguel Cotto did in his recent fight with Pacquiao. Clottey will just keep coming and coming and firing away at Pacquiao and making him miserable for as long as it lasts. Right about now, people are blowing smoke up Pacquiao’s backside, telling him how great he is, and saying how he’s going to destroy Clottey.

Image: Ariza thinks Pacquiao looks like he’s never stopped trainingBy Eric Thomas: According to a Insidesports.ph, strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza thinks that WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao looks like he never stopped training after his fight with Miguel Cotto in November. This good news, because it shows that Pacquiao has kept himself in shape since his impressive 12th round TKO of World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Miguel Cotto on November 14th. It also means that Pacquiao won’t have long to before he’s ready for his March 13th fight against Joshua Clottey at the Dallas Cowboy stadium, in Arlington, Texas.

Image: Pacquaio vs. Clottey - Who else could Manny have fought?By Dennis Broadhurst: Manny Pacquaio is the main attraction in boxing just now, his image may or may not have been damaged by numerous accusations of steroid or PED use but let’s face it: Pacquiao is boxing at the moment. Everyone wants to see Manny fight. It may be a one sided humiliation (Oscar De La Hoya), a spectacular early knockout (Ricky Hatton), or a slightly more competitive thriller (Miguel Cotto) but we all crave to see it.

The decision to fight Clottey could backfire if Pacquiao gets damaged

Image: The decision to fight Clottey could backfire if Pacquiao gets damagedBy Jason Kim: One thing that Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao’s management may not have thought about is that their decision to take a fight against the tough Joshua Clottey could backfire on them if Pacquiao gets damaged in his fight against Clottey. Pacquiao could end up taking heavy punishment from Clottey, even if Manny wins the fight. It might be too high of a price for Pacquiao to pay in winning if he ends up getting hurt and it causing him problems in future fights.
