By Sean McDaniel: WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will be facing Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) on March 13th. Clottey, a Top Rank fighter like Pacquiao, has been picked as the replacement for Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the upcoming bout at the Dallas Cowboy stadium, in Arlington, Texas. Clottey has been called a good replacement opponent by many fans. However, I don’t see it that way. Why didn’t they consider matching Pacquiao up with World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley or WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez.

By Jason Kim: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is ecstatic about his fighter WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao facing Joshua Clottey at the large Dallas Cowboy stadium on March 13th, in Arlington, Texas. Arum, 79, plans on having some of Pacquiao’s future fights at the Dallas cowboy stadium, according to Abs-cbn news. The advantage is that with the big stadium, Arum can get more paying fans and get more attention to Pacquiao, and help boxing in the process.

By Jason Kim: Freddie Roach, the trainer for World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, says in an article at Fight Hype that “Our [Pacquiao] goal is to knock him [Clottey out.” Its understandable why Roach would want his fighter Pacquiao to try and knock Clottey out, because the longer that he sticks around in the fight the more damage he can inflict upon Pacquiao. The good news is that Clottey is starting to show his age 32 – soon to be 33 in March – and doesn’t have much of a right hand anymore.

By Chris Williams: After Manny Pacquiao and his management team suddenly pulled out of their planned March 13th fight with unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. last week because of the random drug testing methods for the fight, it shot an arrow through what many boxing experts feel would have been the biggest fight of all time. Pacquiao, who would have possibly made $40 million on the fight, walked away from that money because he didn’t want to have blood taken from him inside 24 days from the fight.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboy football team and Dallas Cowboy stadium, was very eager to land the Pacquiao-Clottey fight for his large stadium in Texas. Jones reportedly offered up $25 million site fee for the bout.

By Jason Kim: WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is reportedly going to start training next week for his fight against former International Boxing Federation welterweight champion Joshua Clottey. Pacquiao was supposed to be facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. on March 13th, but that fight was unable to be saved because of the random blood tests that Mayweather wanted for the fight. Mayweather and his management still have hopes to save the Pacquiao fight.

The former International Boxing Federation champion Clottey will no doubt be thrilled with the announcement that Pacquiao’s proposed “super fight” with Floyd Mayweather fell through. For boxing fans though it’s a totally different story. A disappointment, a letdown, a disgrace. Why pick an opponent who, while putting in a good effort again Miguel Cotto was eventually beaten. And the world saw what happened when Cotto faced the “Pac-man”.
