By Dave Lahr: Manny Pacquiao is in for a big surprise on Saturday night when he attempts to go on the attack against former IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey. Pacquiao is used to having his way against a recent rag tag variety of beaten up and aging fighters but on March 13th, Pacquiao is going to find that he can’t penetrate through Clottey’s impregnable clamshell defense. I’ve seen Clottey in action in many of his fights, and it’s almost impossible to get shots through Clottey’s high guard and land anywhere to his head.

By Dave Lahr: Trainer Freddie Roach is wary of his fighter Manny Pacquiao getting hit with head butts and uppercuts from challenger Joshua Clottey, and to prevent from Pacquiao getting hit with either, Roach says he’s going to have Pacquiao fight from the outside. In an article at TVNZ, Roach says “Sometimes he [Clottey] uses his head. If you fall into the pocket with him, his best punch is an uppercut and his second best punch is a head butt. So we’re not going to go in there.

By Chris Williams: Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) is counting on Manny Pacquiao to be throwing a lot of punches when he fights him on Saturday night at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium. Clottey is ready for anything that Pacquiao will be bringing to the ring, and he won’t be catching Clottey off guard if he tries to obliterate him with a massive amount of punches in the early rounds of the fight. Roach says in article at Sport.stv.tv, “We’re going to throw [Clottey] off in the first four rounds. He has never been attacked like this before.” Roach then later predicted a 6th round knockout win for Pacquiao. There you have it. Roach is planning on sending Pacquiao out on an attack mission to try and score an early knockout against Clottey.

Roach likes to start high with his knockout predictions and then come down in the rounds as the fights draw nearer. In this case, Roach started with a 12th round knockout win for Pacquiao, and then last week changed it to a 9th round knockout. Now suddenly Roach is shooting for the 6th or 7th rounds.

In an article at Abs- cbn news Pacquiao says “We’ve created a new technique. It’s going to be exciting, and a lot of action in the ring.” A new technique could be a number of different things.

By Sean McDaniel: Freddie Roach is predicting a knockout win for his fighter World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao against Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) for their March 13th fight at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium. In an article at GMA News, Roach says “A knockout in the 9th is likely.” Pacquiao has the right opponent for him to get a knockout. Clottey, 32, is someone that likes to hang on the ropes, and doesn’t throw a lot of punches. In other words, Clottey is like a heavy bag with gloves. Pacquiao should be able to beat this guy unless Clottey suddenly develops stamina, a work rate and ability to not lay on the ropes.
Mayweather praying for Pacquiao defeat?

Some commentators seemed to believe that I thought Mayweather was overlooking Mosley and only had his mind on a Pacquiao super bout. Others believed that Mayweather would be praying Pacquiao would be defeated because he is scared to face him. This misses the point of what i was trying to say.

With Manny’s speed and his combinations, I do believe he will be the first person to stop Clottey before the 12th round. I know Clottey is a big strong guy and a great fighter and we respect him as a real tough guy, but we also know his characteristic, we know his mistakes and we know his bad habits, which we can exploit to the hilt.” I agree with Roach.
