Bradley confused by Pacquiao’s mild nature

pac999(Photo credit: Chris Farina/Top Rank) By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) doesn’t quite understand where Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) is at mentally as they approach their rematch on April 12th. While Pacquiao has said that he wants to fight more aggressively and not be the kind and compassionate fighter who let his recent opponent Brandon Rios off the hook when he could have knocked him out last November, but Bradley still doubts whether Pacquiao still has the fire in him to fight hard.

Pacquiao spoke of wanting to fight will more of a killer instinct recently during their 2-city press tour, but it’s hard to believe Pacquiao will be able to change his basic nature given that he hasn’t shown the fire to really go after his opponents since his win over Miguel Cotto in 2009. After that year, Pacquiao seemed to change completely.

Arum says 70% of tickets for Pacquiao vs. Bradley II are already gone

bradley88989(Photo credit: Chris Farina/Top Rank) By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum was pleased to announce earlier today that 70% of the tickets for the April 12th rematch between his two Top Rank stable fighters Manny Pacquiao and Tim Bradley have already been sold after one day of being on sale. The 82-year-old Arum believes that the remaining tickets will be scooped up in the next 2 weeks by fans who are excited about seeing Pacquiao and Bradley fight again.

I don’t know about you, but I’m betting we’ll be seeing a 3rd fight between Pacquiao and Bradley in early 2015 if the April 12th fight brings in good pay-per-view numbers. A third and fourth fight seem to be almost a given if the bring in good numbers. For me, one Pacquiao-Bradley fight was enough, and I’m gonna sit this one out and watch it on replay rather than contribute to what could lead to even more Pacquiao vs. Bradley rematches in the future.

Pacquiao vs. Bradley 2 breakdown

pac6788By DA: On April 12th Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KOs) will get a shot at redemption against Timothy Bradley (31-0, 12 KOs) who controversially defeated Pacquiao with a 12 round split decision and in the process taking his WBO Welterweight title. I’m gonna point out the facts, Pacquiao missed a lot of his punches and HBO’s biased commentary would applaud everything he threw when clearly he did not land. But for Tim he didn’t do much at all to Pacman but stay on the defensive.

The Compubox shows who the clear cut winner should’ve been and it was indeed Pacquiao. Pacquiao out-landed Bradley by roughly over 80 punches. Though not many people know this, Compubox do not determine winners in a boxing match. Judges do not view Compubox and only view what’s going on at ringside.

Pacquiao: The only way Bradley can beat me is by knocking me out

pac4(Photo credit: Chris Farina/Top Rank) By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) doesn’t think it’s possible for WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) to outbox him in their fight on April 12th. Pacquiao sees his superior hand speed is being too good for Bradley to be able to earn another 12 round decision against him like he got 2 years ago in their infamous fight in June of 2012. Pacquiao won’t let Bradley get escape with another win over him.

“I am still faster than Bradley. The only way Bradley can beat me this time is to knock me out. I will be the aggressor . I will throw a lot of punches at him – more than I threw against [Brandon] Rios – and I will land them. Last time I was too nice. This time, I will finish what I start.”

Pacquiao says he didn’t take his training seriously for Bradley fight in 2012

MANNY PACQUIAO

“I remember last time believing that I won the first fight against Tim Bradley. I thought I was leading after every round. I thought I won the fight easily. I controlled the fight every round.

“I had a feeling in training camp that he would run from me once he felt my power and he did…after the third or fourth round.

“To be honest, I wasn’t as motivated when I was training for our first fight. I guess I didn’t take him seriously enough.

Pacquiao: You will see a young Manny Pacquiao on April 12th

pac66By Chris Williams: At today’s press conference with Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) and WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s), Pacquiao talked about coming into their April 12th rematch a younger fighter than he’s shown in his last handful of fights. Pacquiao plans on finding the fountain of youth by the time he faces Bradley in April, and he expects to look like a brand new Pacquiao.

“You will see a young Manny Pacquiao on April 12th. Both of us have something to prove.”

Pacquiao to start training following his 2-city media tour next week

pac755By Chris Williams: This week, Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) and WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) will be taking part in a 2-city media tour to attract interest in their April 12th rematch at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao plans on immediately starting his training camp after he concludes the media tour. On Tuesday, Pacquiao and Bradley will be in Los Angeles, California in the first city of the tour. On February 5th, they’ll travel to New York to conclude the tour.

It looks like Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is being minimal about the media tours by choosing to travel to just 2 cities in the United States. In contrast, the Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez traveled to 11 cities as part of their media tour to market their fight last September.

Arum: Marquez wants Pacquiao-Bradley winner

marquez5By Chris Williams: It seems that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum won’t have to worry about trying to scratch up an opponent for Manny Pacquiao to fight next September, because Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s) has told Arum that he wants to fight the winner of the April 12th fight between Pacquiao and WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley.

Marquez wants a chance to capture a 5th division world title, and the WBO 147 lb. belt is what he’s after. Marquez would prefer to fight Bradley for the WBO title so that he can avenge what he feels was a controversial 12 round split decisionloss from last October, but the chance of Bradley beating Pacquiao for a second time aren’t too certain right now.

Bradley: If Pacquiao loses to me his career is over

pac44By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) will be facing Filipino Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) in a rematch on April 12th. Bradley feels that Pacquiao’s career will be on the line in this fight. If he loses the fight then it’ll be all over for the 35-year-old Pacquiao.

I don’t know if Pacquiao will be finished like he says, because he said before his last fight against Brandon Rios that he won’t retire even if he loses the fight. Pacquiao will likely continue to fight long after fans lose interest in paying to see him in his PPV fights. Pacquiao will almost surely continue fighting until the bitter end where he’s more of a journeyman fighter than a former champion. I don’t see Pacquiao retiring until his fights bring in less than 100,000 PPV buys each time he fights.

Arum: 90 percent of the people don’t want to see the undercard

arum4334By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum feels that boxing fans really don’t care about most of the undercard fights. Arum feels that fans mainly care about the main event fights on pay-per-view cards. I guess that explains why Pacquiao’s undercard for his rematch against Tim Bradley is so empty of big name fighters and interesting fights. It’s subjective, of course. Some fans might see the fighters that Arum has stacked the Pacquiao-Bradley II undercard with at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, as being great fights that they just can’t wait to see.

I don’t have any interest at all in seeing any of the fights that Arum included the Pacquiao-Bradley II rematch, and I think this is one re-tread match-up that Arum badly needed to include a great undercard for because it’s not really an interesting fight.
