Valdez (22-0, 19 KOs) successfully defended his WBO featherweight title in beating his #1 WBO challenger Miguel Marriaga (25-2, 21 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision.

Revenge may be a dish best served cold, but it’s one Magdaleno intends to serve up to the Dos Santos/Donaire team using two red-hot leather utensils.

Fighting in the co-feature bout on the Terence Crawford vs. Viktor Postol card on HBO pay-per-view, Valdez, 25, dropped the over-matched 28-year-old Argentinian Rueda two times in the 2nd round with hard shots to the midsection. The fight was halted by referee Russell Mora. The time of the stoppage was at 2:18 of the round.
