Nonito’s movement is back, he’s fighting in his old style, says Donaire Sr

YouTube video
By Chris Williams: WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire’s father, Donaire Sr, says Nonito has got his old movement and is fighting in the old style that made him successful for many years.

Donaire seems to have lost a lot of his mobility ever since he put on weight after having been voted the 2012 Fighter of the Year. Donaire had to trim down a lot of weight to face WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux in a fight that Donaire lost.

The movement was gone from Donaire in that fight. In his two subsequent bouts against Vic Darchinyand and Simpiwe Vetyeka, Donaire’s ability to move has been limited. He looked slow and heavy-legged in both of those fights and nothing like the fighter that was crowned the 2012 Fighter of the Year.

Nicholas Walters: Knocking out Donaire would be an A + for me

walters77By Chris Williams: This Saturday night HBO will have one of their better co-feature bouts when WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) goes up against WBA champion Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Donaire, 31, is considered the favorite as of now, but more and more boxing fans believe that this fight is Walters to win due to his youth, size, power, defense and boxing skills.

Arum wants Donaire-Walters winner to face Lomachenko

lomachenko99By Dan Ambrose: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is interested in matching the winner of this Saturday’s fight between WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) and Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) against WBO featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (2-1, 1 KOs).

This would be an excellent fight, but it would be awfully tough on Walters and Donaire, because neither of those guys are in the same league as Lomachenko in my view.

“Arum told me today he’d like to match Saturday’s Donaire-Walters winner with Lomachenko if V-Lom wins 11/22. LOVE IT! #boxing,” said Dan Rafael of ESPN.

Donaire: This fight against Walters will end in a knockout

donaire66By Chris Williams: 31-year-old WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) knows his fight against Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) will end by knockout this Saturday night HBO Championship Boxing from the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Donaire knows that one of them will be getting knocked out. He just doesn’t if it’ll be him or Walters. This is a truly tossup fight and Donaire is the first to admit it. He acknowledges that he’s not as hungry as the 28-year-old Walters because he’s already accomplished more than him, but he still wants the win to keep his career moving forward.

Donaire v Walters – Not to be missed

donaire663By Daniel Hughes: The main focus this weekend will of course be on the main event at the Stubhub Center, in Carson, California, USA, will be Gennady Golovkin against Marco Antonio Rubio in a middleweight match up that will no doubt produce entertainment however long it lasts.

Many boxing sites, forums and column inches of course looking forward to seeing the brutal technician Golovkin in action in a fight against the tough, rugged Rubio a Mexican fighter that doesn’t buck the stereotype of fighters from that fighting nation.

Golovkin-Rubio & Donaire-Walters next Saturday, October 18th at StubHub Center, Carson, California

golovkinBy Chris Williams: Next Saturday night on October 18th, WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) will be in the ring hoping to put on a good performance in his “Mexican Style” fight against WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) on HBO World Championship Boxing from increasingly popular venue at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The Golovkin-Rubio fight will likely be overshadowed by the co-feature bout pitting WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) against power house Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs). For me, this is the real headliner fight because it matches a young up and coming star in Walters against the heavily hyped former three division world champion Donaire.

It was only two years ago when Donaire was awarded the 2012 Fighter of the Year award by boxing writers for his victories over Jorge Arce, Jeffrey Mathebula, Toshiaki Nishioka and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Things have changed for Donaire since then.

Nicholas Walters predicting a knockout win over Donaire in 5th or 6h round

donaire7By Chris Williams: WBA World featherweight champion Nicholas Walkers (24-0, 20 KOs) plans on making quick work of WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) this month in their fight on October 18th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Walters, 28, doesn’t want to let the soon to be 32-year-old Donaire to hang around too long. He wants to get Donaire out of there as quick as possible. Considering what happened the last time Donaire fought, Walters might want to score as quick a knockout as possible to avoid finding himself on the receiving end of a controversial decision.

Donaire Sr: Nonito Jr has got his speed and power back

donaire7788By Chris Williams: Trainer Nonito Donaire Sr is raving about how good his son WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) has been looking during training camp recently in his 3rd week of camp.

Donaire is getting ready for his title defense against unbeaten Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) next month on October 18th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Donaire’s promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has to be pretty confident that he’ll beat Walters otherwise he likely wouldn’t have made the fight.

Nonito Donaire vs. Nicholas Walters added to Golovkin-Rubio card on October 18th

donaire7788By Chris Williams: WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) will be defending his title against WBA World featherweight champion Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) in the co-feature bout on the Gennady Golovkin vs. Marco Antonio Rubio card on October 18th in a fight televised by HBO Championship Boxing from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Donaire-Walters is arguably the best co-feature bout on a major fight card since the Lucas Matthysse vs. Danny Garcia fight last year in September when that fight was the co-feature on the Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez fight card.

Donaire leaning in the direction of fighting Nicholas Walters next

donaire7788By Chris Williams: WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KO’s) said recently that he would give Simpiwe Vetyeka (26-3, 18 KO’s) a rematch after beating him by a 5 round technical decision to pick up his WBA title last month on May 31st in Macao, China. But Donaire reportedly is leaning in the direction of facing WBA World featherweight champion Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KO’s) instead, according to Philboxing.com.

Why the change of mind for Donaire? It’s hard to say, but maybe he realizes it was going to be tough trying to beat Vetyeka in a rematch, and that he would be better off moving on against Walters.
