By Dan Ambrose: Even with Paul Williams having been knocked completely out cold against Sergio Martinez (47-2-2, 26 KO’s) two fights again and looking very poor in a recent questionable 12 round majority decision over Erislandy Lara on July 9th of this month, HBO is reportedly still interested in showing Sergio Martinez vs. Paul Williams III, according to news from Sportsillustrated.cnn.com.
Martinez vs. Williams
Paul Williams: Should he attempt to avenge his defeat by Sergio Martinez?
By Jason Kim: It wasn’t a pretty sight seeing the tall skinny Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KO’s) laid out on the canvas, out cold in the 2nd round after getting caught with a straight left hand from WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez on November 20th at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

By Francisco Hernandez: Top fight of the year 2010 is Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Michael Katsidis. This fight was all action from start to finish, no lull in the action, every second of the fight packed with adrenalin, both fighters in top physical shape, both fighters with an equal chance of winning the fight, Katsidis with his strength and conditioning, Marquez with his technical skill.
Sergio Martinez: “Pacquiao is too small. It would be a mismatch”
Photo Naoki Fukuda: By Chris Williams: As Yahoo News writer Kevin Iole so expertly pointed out in his superb column today, World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion Sergio Martinez’s one-punch knockout win over Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KO’s) last Saturday night may have removed any possibility of getting a fight with Manny Pacquiao in the future. I have to say that Iole is so right about this.
Sergio Martinez – 2010 Fighter of the Year and Boxing’s #1 Pound for Pound fighter
By Dave Lahr: You can forget about Manny Pacquiao being the 2010 Fighter of the Year, because WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KO’s) cemented that title in my eyes with his outstanding 2nd round knockout of Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KO’s) last night at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Look for Pacquiao to avoid Sergio Martinez and fight Mosley instead
Photo Naoki Fukuda: By Dave Lahr: Last night, we saw pure brilliance from World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KO’s) successfully defended his title with a 2nd round KO of Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KO’s) in front of a packed Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City New Jersey. Martinez turned what was supposed to have been a closely contested fight into a wipeout when he brained Williams with a tremendous left hand that left Williams old cold and face down on the canvas in the 2nd round.
The win cemented Martinez’s claim to be the best in the middleweight division. Martinez has only been fighting at middleweight since April, when he defeated WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik by a 12 round decision.
At the time of Martinez’s victory, Pavlik was considered to be the best in the middleweight division. Before that fight, Martinez was already considered to be the top dog in the junior middleweight division, where he held the WBC title. After beating Pavlik, Martinez was forced to decide whether to keep the junior middleweight or the middleweight straps. Martinez opted to hold onto the middleweight titles. However, he’s still quite capable of moving back down to junior middleweight to fight someone like WBC junior middleweight champion Manny Pacquiao.
Sergio Martinez says he’s open to offers – Will Pacquiao or Mayweather step up to the plate?
By Chris Williams: WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KO’s) looked sensational on Saturday night in stopping two-time welterweight champion Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KO’s) in the 2nd round at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Martinez was all business in throwing hard leather from the opening bell, as he worked his way on the inside of Williams and pounded him with left hands to the head. In the 2nd round, Martinez thew a short left hand while looking away and the shot connected cleanly to the head of Williams, knocking him completely out.
Martinez stops Williams cold in round 2
By Sam Gregory: In a press conference for the most highly anticipated rematch for 2010, Sergio Martinez 46-2-2 with 25 KO’s said he couldn’t think of any weakness of Paul Williams 39-2 with 27 KO’s he could capitalize on or exploit. Martinez said that Paul Williams was a very complete fighter but he predicted a knockout before the tenth round.
Williams gets destroyed by Martinez
By Dan Ambrose: Paul Williams (39-2, 27 KO’s) made the mistake of trying to slug with World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (45-2-2, 25 KO’s) on Saturday night and he paid for it by getting knocked cold in the 2nd round in their fight at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. With both fighters throwing left hands at the exact same time, Martinez’s shorter left got there first and knocked Williams clean out. Williams fell to the canvas face first where he laid there out cold for a short period of time before he was helped to a sitting position by the ring doctor.
