Purses: Broner $1M, Granados $250K

Image: Purses: Broner $1M, Granados $250K

By Jim Dower: The purses are a little lopsided in favor of former four division world champion Adrien Broner for his fight tonight against Adrian Granados at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Broner (32-2, 24 KOs) will be receiving a purse of $1 million compared to just $250,000 for Granados (18-4-2, 12 KOs), according to Dan Rafael.

The million purse for the 27-year-old Broner isn’t what many in the boxing world thought he would be making at this point in his career. Years earlier before Broner was beaten by Marcos Maidana and Shawn Porter, he was seen as a future pay-per-view star, and a fighter that would someday take over for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to carry the sport on his back.

Radivoje Kalajdzic wants rematch with Marcus Browne

Image: Radivoje Kalajdzic wants rematch with Marcus BrowneBy Dan Ambrose: #11 IBF light heavyweight contender Radivoje Kalajdzic (21-1, 14 Kos) wants a rematch against undefeated U.S. 2012 Olympian Marcus Browne (18-0, 13 KOs) after losing a controversial 8 round split decision last Saturday night on the undercard of the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Chris Algieri card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Kalajdzic’s promoter Lou Dibella says he’ll eventually get a rematch against the 25-year-old Browne down the line at some point. Dibella told Kalajdzic that he should have done more in the first four rounds of the fight so that the judges couldn’t take the decision away from him. However, Kalajdzic would have won the fight if not for a mistake on the part of the referee Tony Chiarantano, who blew a call in the 1st round when he saw Kalajdzic hit the deck and gave Browne credit for a knockdown on what was really a slip on Kalajdzic’s part.

Exclusive Interview: Light Heavyweight Prospect Marcus Browne

By Sevak Sarkisian: When I attended the Victor Otiz v Luis Collazo fight, I got the opportunity to chat and interview some of the fighters who fought on the undercard including former Olympian and light heavyweight prospect Marcus Browne.

S.S. First of all, congratulations on the win. What was your game plan going into this fight and how do u feel like you executed it?

M.B. uh, my game plan was to test him out in the beginning, test that chin. We saw he came out in the 2nd round with the same thing, 3rd round same thing. Today I don’t know, he came to fight, his chin is steel I guess. So we just switched the game plan to boxing and pot shotting and throwing combinations and just doing what we had to do.
