Wladimir Klitschko could be facing Adamek next, not David Haye

By Eric Thomas: In the latest boxing news, IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) is reportedly mentioning #1 ranked World Boxing Organization heavyweight challenger Tomasz Adamek (43-1, 28 KO’s) as his possible next opponent rather than WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s). Klitschko, 34, is currently healing up from an abdominal muscle tear, which will require at least six weeks for him to recover.

However, Dan Rafael of ESPN interview Ross Greenburg, HBO’s Sports President earlier today, and Greenburg said that he’s open to showing the Klitschkos fights provided that its’ against popular heavyweights like David Haye and Tomasz Adamek. Greenburg doesn’t have any interest in showing the Klitschko brothers against American heavyweights because the U.S. doesn’t have anyone that can compete with the Klitschko brothers right now.

By Jim Dower: World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) could be the first of the Klitschko brothers to get a stab at heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek (42-1, 27 KO’s) next year in 2011. However, that’s if the 33-year-old Adamek can get by his next opponent 38-year-old Lance Whitaker (35-6-1, 28 KO’s), who will likely be fighting Adamek in November or December this year.
