Joshua stopped the 41-year-old Wladimir earlier this year in beating him by an 11th round technical knockout in front of 100,000 fans on April 29 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Joshua-Klitschko: Wembley’s war was the fight heavyweight boxing needed

Image: Joshua-Klitschko: Wembley's war was the fight heavyweight boxing needed

By Chris O’Brien: As the dust settles on Anthony Joshua’s sensational heavyweight showdown with Wladimir Klitchsko, it’s clear that their eleven-round classic at Wembley was exactly the contest boxing’s heavyweight scene needed.

The edge-of-seat entertainment value, the manner of AJ’s victory and the demeanor of the two giants combined to deliver a great sporting story, which enthralled the public far beyond boxing’s fan base, and leased fresh life into the sport’s heaviest division. Social media accounts across the UK have been abuzz with reaction to the fight, in a way which has not been seen since Facebook and Twitter accounts began to dominate much of daily life. Last Saturday’s action matched the pre-match furor, and everyone wants to talk about it.

Joshua vs Kiltschko – The fight that finally delivered!

Image: Joshua vs Kiltschko - The fight that finally delivered!

By Ryan Allan: Rarely in life does the point of execution surpass the moment of expectation. The prospect of something spectacular can so often become something so instantly forgettable. Hype, hyperbole and hubris are the common staples of the 21st century diet, so overused so overplayed that it becomes nigh on impossible to distinguish genuine importance from genuinely good marketing and so when Anthony Joshua stepped into the ring this past Saturday in front of 90000 supporters at a packed Wembley stadium, a crescendo of expectation and anticipation was weighing more heavily on his relatively inexperienced shoulders than any other fighter in British boxing history.

What will defeat mean for Wladimir’s legacy in the sport?

Image: What will defeat mean for Wladimir's legacy in the sport?

By Andy Hill: Father time is an opponent that will one day defeat us all and the world of professional boxing is certainly no exception to this rule with 41-year-old Wladimir Klitschko losing to Anthony Joshua last Saturday night. Unfortunately, more than any, the heavyweight division is littered with tales of fighters who have continued to lace up their gloves well beyond their expiration date. In the most dangerous division of the most dangerous of sports, it is the giants of the heavyweight division that suffer more than any if they fail to walk away from the sport at the right moment.

What is next for the old dragon Wladimir Klitschko?

Image: What is next for the old dragon Wladimir Klitschko?

By Gerardo Granados: Last night at Wembley Stadium, London, UK, Wladimir Klitschko lost to Anthony Joshua by TKO11 in a great fight. By the time of the stoppage, I had it scored 95-93 for Joshua; it was a competitive fight until the end. At the fifth round I thought it was all over for the old Dragon, but then he showed the heart and determination of a true Champion and knocked down Joshua in the next round. Thru the fight and mostly at the 11 round Wladimir earned all my respect and admiration, the old Dragon went out as a true ring warrior and no one can ever criticize him for not have taken a dangerous foe on his comeback.

Tyson Fury accepts Joshua’s fight offer

Image: Tyson Fury accepts Joshua’s fight offer

By Scott Gilfoid: Tyson Fury has accepted last night’s fight offer made by IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua following his “life and death dance” with Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Joshua called out Fury while inside the ring after beating the 41-year-old Wladimir by an 11th round knockout. What was troubleing though is the fact that Joshua called out Fury despite having a rematch clause with Klitschko. So in other words, for a fight between Joshua and Fury to take place, Wladimir would have to choose to not execute his rematch clause in his contract.
