By Dan Ambrose: 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KO’s) looks to become the oldest fighter ever to capture a major title when he takes on WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) in a rematch next month on May 21st in an HBO televised bout at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Hopkins tried his luck last December but failed to capture the WBC belt after getting knocked down a couple of times in a close fight and had to settle for a 12 round majority draw.
Hopkins vs. Pascal
Hopkins-Pascal 2: Bernard may come up short this time around
By Dan Ambrose: 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KO’s) may have missed out on his best chance of beating World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) last December in his 12 round draw. That was a fight that Hopkins could have won had he not been knocked down two times early in the fight. All Hopkins had to do was stay on his feet and he would have won, but his chin betrayed him and he went down when he got hit hard a couple of times.
Hopkins says don’t be surprised if Pascal gets hurt in the ring on 5/21
By Dan Ambrose: 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins is livid with his treatment by WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal at their recent press conference this week to announce their rematch on May 21st in Montreal, Canada.
Hopkins-Pascal: Jean has to set a faster pace this time
By Dan Ambrose: If WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) wants to make 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KO’s) look all of his age on May 21st, Pascal has to pressure Hopkins and force him to fight a lot harder than he did the last time. Pascal and Hopkins fought to a dull 12 round majority draw last time they fought in December.
Hopkins-Pascal: Bernard wants the rematch to be in the U.S, not Canada
By Dan Ambrose: Having failed to beat WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal the first time around last December, 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins has been given another shot at trying to beat Pascal by the WBC, who ordered the rematch, and is making Chad Dawson wait a little while longer to get his rematch with Pascal. If Hopkins can’t do it this time, he needs to move on and look for some other fights because he blew it last time out by getting knocked down twice and having to settle for a draw.
Pascal: Hopkins has spent his career complaining
By Dan Ambrose: WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) expects 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KO’s) to be complaining long and hard after they meet up for their rematch on May 21st at a still to be determined location. Pascal and Hopkins fought last year in December with the fight being ruled a 12 round majority draw. Hopkins felt he should have won the fight, but getting knocked down twice didn’t help his case with the judges.
Chad Dawson says Bernard Hopkins is “reluctant to face me”
By Dan Ambrose: For the past three years, former IBF/WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (29-1, 17 KO’s) has been trying to get Bernard Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KO’s) to fight him but with zero luck. Hopkins has instead picked out vulnerable fighters like Winky Wright, Antonio Tarver, Kelly Pavlik, Roy Jones Jr., Enrique Ornelas, while losing to Joe Calzaghe.
WBC to force Hopkins-Pascal rematch – Let’s hope Hopkins can stay on his feet this time
By Dan Ambrose: The World Boxing Council has ordered an immediate rematch between WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal and soon to be 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins and will insist on this fight going ahead next with the winner facing Chad Dawson next. I really don’t see the point in the rematch going ahead right away. Hopkins blew his chance at making a case that he should have defeated Pascal in their fight in December 2010 by getting dropped twice.

Hopkins was dropped twice in the early rounds and had to work hard to make up for those knockdowns.
