By Peter Wells: Well it’s been quite a while now since my last post and plenty has happened. And already we’ve had some ups and downs to this year so far. Prospects Juan Manuel Lopez and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr where both given a harsh lesson while Manny Pacquiao sent us to sleep with his last outing against Shane Mosley. On the up side we’ve seen Bernard Hopkins make history by being the oldest ever fighter to win a world title and he even had time to do a few push ups in the meantime.
Hopkins vs. Pascal
Hopkins-Pascal II draws huge ratings for HBO
By Dan Ambrose: The second and hopefully the final fight between Bernard Hopkins and Jean Pascal brought in a huge rating of 1.8 million viewers for HBO Sports last Saturday night. The ratings were the highest for HBO since 2009 when WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko wiped out challenger Chris Arreola in a one-sided 10th round stoppage. Sadly, the Hopkins vs. Pascal II fight was about as interesting as that fight.
Hopkins wants Bute or Dawson next
By Jason Kim: Newly crowned WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) says he doesn’t care who he faces next – Lucian Bute or Chad Dawson. This comes after beating Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KO’s) by a 12 round unanimous decision last Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Other than a brief struggle in the first four rounds, Hopkins took over the fight from then on and dominated Pascal for the remainder of the bout.
Pascal wants a rematch with Hopkins
Bernard Hopkins – What is his secret?
By John F. McKenna (McJack): Bernard Hopkins AKA “The Executioner” (52-5-2-1, 34 KO’s) defeated Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KO’s) Saturday night at the Bell Center in Montreal. Thus Hopkins became the oldest man at forty six years old to ever win a boxing world championship. George Foreman was forty five years old when he knocked out Michael Moorer to win the Heavyweight Championship in 1994.
What was Jean Pascal thinking tonight?
By Mark Young: Bernard Hopkins is not my favourite fighter by a country mile, I don’t like his persona and on many occasions I have found his fights boring and ugly to watch, but at 46 years old, he schooled Jean Pascal tonight. Pascal entered the ring with exactly the same plan he brought to the first fight with Bernard Hopkins and paid the price. Hopkins is now WBC light heavyweight champion of the world while Jean Pascal has just dropped his stock value considerably.
Jones loses tonight: Will Bernard Hopkins be the next one to get beat?
By Dan Ambrose: The 42-year-old Roy Jones Jr. really looked his age tonight in getting stopped by Russian Denis Lebedev in a brutal 10th round knockout in a fight that took place in Russia.

By Eric Thomas: Saturday’s rematch between WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) and challenger Bernard Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KO’s) is expected to take place in front of a packed house of 16,000 fans at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Most of those fans will be rooting for Pascal – the home fighter – to win and prevent Hopkins from breaking a record in their city by becoming the oldest fighter to ever win a world title in boxing.
Hopkins 174.9, Pascal 174.8 – Weigh-in
By Jim Dower: 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins weighed in at 174.9 for Saturday’s fight against World Boxing Council light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Hopkins came in overweight on the first weigh-in attempt, but after one hour he was able to shed the excess pounds and make the fight.
Dawson-Diaconu: Chad looks to punch his ticket for a fight against Hopkins-Pascal winner
By Jason Kim: Former IBF/WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (29-1, 17 KO’s) is hoping to set himself up for a big money fight against the winner of Saturday’s bout between 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins and WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. To get the winner of that fight, the 28-year-old Dawson has to beat the hard-throwing Romanian Adrian Diaconu (27-2, 15 KO’s) on the Hopkins-Pascal II undercard.
