Haye-Valuev: Can David Slay Goliath?

haye342348By Gav Bridges: As November 7th looms ever closer, inevitably more and more of the pages within this forum will start to focus on the WBA Heavyweight title fight between “The Russian Giant” Nikolai Valuev and “The Hayemaker”, David Haye. Already there have been dismissive calls about the potential of Haye in this fight, and his overall abilities, so in the interests of balanced journalism I have attempted here to show a balanced view of the fight, looking at the pros and cons from the Haye side of the equation.

Will Haye’s Time Off Hurt Him Against Valuev?

By Chris Williams: By the time that British heavyweight David Haye (22-1, 21 KO’s) enters the ring against World Boxing Association heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev (50-1, 34 KO’s) on November 7th, for their fight in Germany, Haye will have been out of action for an entire year. In some ways, you can say it’s been a lot longer than that, because Haye has been matched pretty softly for the past two years.

Should David Haye be Ranked in the top #10?

haye343449By Chris Williams: British heavyweight David Haye (22-1, 21 KO’s) thus far hasn’t exactly impressed me in the time that he’s been a heavyweight. Granted, Haye has fought only twice at heavyweight, but both times he fought, I didn’t see the huge talent there that some of his loyal fans have been speaking about.

David Haye Could Be Out In the Cold, Bout with Valuev at Risk

haye53549By Manuel Perez: Heavyweight David Haye may find himself without an opponent on November 7th, according to the latest boxing news around the world. It seems that former two-time World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John Ruiz, the mandatory challenger to the WBA heavyweight crown, isn’t going to stand by idly and allow the WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev bypass him and fight the number #4 ranked Haye instead.

Haye-Valuev: Will Big Nikolay Maul David?

Valuev-Haye6By Chris Williams: On November 7th, former WBA/WBC/WBO cruiserweight champion David Haye (22-1, 21 KO’s) will be facing a fighter over 100 pounds heavier than him and almost one foot taller 7’0” World Boxing Association heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev (50-1, 34 KO’s) in Germany. By that time, Haye, 28, will have been out of the ring for almost but not quite 12 full months since his last fight against 38-year-old journeyman Monte Barrett. Haye was careful in selecting Barrett’s name from the top 15 in the heavyweight division, staying away from arguably much more dangerous fighters like Kevin Johnson, Odlanier Solis, Eddie Chambers and Alexander Povetkin.

British Boxing Could Be The Future

haye45237By Sean Campbell: Anyone who saw the Paulie Malignaggi/Juan Diaz fight enjoyed a good, close, competitive bout, with Paulie giving the best performance of his career. But what one of the judges saw was a good, competitive fight, but not a close one. Gale Van Hoy bizarrely scored the bout 118-110 in favour of Diaz. There was no way that the margin between the fighters was that much, let alone Diaz being the winner. Many saw Malignaggi getting robed that night.

News – Vitali thinks Haye is Afraid to Fight the Klitschko Brothers

By Chris Williams: World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Vitali Kitschko (37-2, 36 KO’s) feels that David Haye is afraid to fight him and his brother IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, and is instead looking for any easier opponent in WBA heavyweight title holder Nikolay Valuev, who Haye will be fighting on November 7th. Haye, 28, could have fought either of the Klitschko if he wanted.

Did Haye Destroy His Credibilty as a Heavyweight?

By Chris Williams: It’s hard to believe how quickly British heavyweight David Haye (22-1, 21 KO’s) has disappeared in the minds of many boxing fans. Just two months ago, Haye, 28, was arguably one of the most popular heavyweights in the division, even though he had done next to nothing to establish himself as a fighter to be reckoned with by fighting anyone of note.
