Canelo understands that the judges saw it differently in giving Golovkin a close 12 round unanimous decision, but he still believes that Jacobs did enough to deserve the win.
Mayweather comments on Golovkin-Jacobs fight
By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. saw middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s fight against Daniel Jacobs, and he says Triple G came up short in that fight, even though won the fight by a 12 round unanimous decision on the three judges’ scorecards. Mayweather says he could train the 29-year-old Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs) to do a better job. The 40-year-old Mayweather further said that he would beat Golovkin if fought him. However, when asked if he would fight Golovkin at 154, Mayweather said he’s only coming back to boxing for the big fights, and he’s only interested in one fight and that’s against UFC fighter Conor McGregor. Mayweather doesn’t see Golovkin as being well-known enough to be worth fighting.

For boxing fans who don’t remember, Golovkin beat Brook by a 5th round TKO after the British fighter’s trainer Dominic Ingle tossed in the towel during the 5th when he quit throwing punches and was taking heavy punishment.

By Chris Williams: HBO Boxing will be televising the replay of the Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Jacobs and Roman Gonzalez vs. Srisaket Rungvisai tonight. The card will begin at 10pm ET/PT on HBO. This is the replay of last Saturday’s fight card on HBO pay-per-view, which saw Golovkin edge Jacobs by a 12 round unanimous decision, and Rungvisai send the previously undefeated “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (46-1, 38 KOs) down to defeat by a 12 round majority decision. Both fights were controversial unfortunately.

By Eric Baldwin: The pay-per-view numbers are now out for IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s fight last Saturday night against Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs on HBO, and they’re not great with just 170,000 PPV buys. According to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports, Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions has confirmed the 170,000 PPV buys for the Golovkin-Jacobs fight on HBO. What this means for boxing is not likely good.
Golovkin deserved win over Jacobs says Saunders’ trainer
By Eric Baldwin: Adam Booth, the trainer for WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders, says that he feels that Gennady Golovkin did enough to earn his 12 round decision victory over Daniel Jacobs last Saturday night. While Booth did see the fight as a close affair, he felt that Golovkin’s jabs and the knockdown in round 4 that he scored were the difference in the fight. He says that Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) won more rounds overall than Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs).
