For Froch’s sake he better hope so because he has a lot riding on this fight. If he loses he can forget about fighting Andre Ward and Mikkel Kessler.

Froch may still fight Lucian Bute in a rematch, because as Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn recently said that Froch is contractually obligated to face Bute again, but facing just Bute isn’t what Froch had in mind. He and his promoter Hearn want 2013 to be a big year of rematches for Froch.

Even if Froch loses the fight, Hearn is still going to try and make the fight with Bute, because Hearn sees 2013 as “the year of the rematches” for Froch, according to Sky Sports.

Hearn said to Sky Ringside “Contractually we’re obligated to the Bute rematch, win or lose [against Mack]. 2013 is about the year of the rematches. Bute, [Mikkel] Kessler, then [Andre] Ward. Those are the three targets in 2013, and we believe we can make those fights happen. We’re planning on fighting Bute at the end of March. If they don’t take that then the fight will likely never happen.”

Carl Froch is a proven warrior and has beaten some of the best super middleweight in the world. From Andre Dirrell to the over hyped Canadian Lucian Bute. He’s a beast and definitely a force to be reckoned with. Technically Froch should still be undefeated after battering Mikkel Kessler and dominating Andre Ward. This fight is more of a warm up bout for the rematch in Montreal against Bute, whereby he’ll be able to expose the Romanian based Canadian in front of his home fans.

Mack figures that Froch is ready to picked off and he feels he’s just the man to do the job on him.

I agree. Froch had his time and is now 35, and in the position after a lot of grueling fights to where he’s vulnerable. Mack could be the guy to do it. That’s not to say that he will, but it’s possible. Mack is a little younger than Froch at 32, and he doesn’t have a lot of hard miles on him.

Froch said to the Dailymail.co.uk “Rob [McCracken] wants me to do it…why not? Age is a number. I live right. No smoking, no drinking, no putting on weight. I feel great. A lot of my recent fights looked like wars but I haven’t taken too much punishment.”

Froch, 35, came in at a half pound under the limit at 167 ½ lbs, whereas the 32-year-old Mack weighed in right on the limit of 168 lbs

Mack was picked out from the light heavyweight division for this fight, meaning he had to boil down from 175 to make weight. Some boxing fans feel that this was done to get an edge for Froch, because this could potentially be a lot easier fight for him than it would if Froch fought an actual contender from the super middleweight class that is used to fighting at this weight.
