By Scott Gilfoid: American light heavyweight Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) got under the thin skin of IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) in their recent press conference when he did a little good old fashioned Philadelphia trash talking. I guess Froch isn’t used to the give in take of fighters from Philly because he got all bent out of shape about it.

Mack said this as quoted by thesun.co.uk: “I said he’s a fake Joe Calzaghe and it got under his skin.”

Mack thinks that Froch has been trying to imitate Calzaghe with his fighting style with the way he fights with his hands down by his waist looking to dodge shots by moving his torso instead blocking punching with his gloves, arms and shoulders.

Froch replied back “Come Saturday night Mack is in a world of trouble. You’re in my territory. I’m the champ and you’re going to feel some serious wrath from the Cobra.”

Froch needs to keep his cool because Mack is the last fighter you want to go out there and try and slug with. Mack is stronger than Froch, and a bigger puncher than the guys he’s been fighting. If Froch tries to go primitive caveman on Mack he’s going to end up on the seat of his pants in front of all those Brits this Saturday.

If Froch is smart he’ll control his emotions and try and use his boxing ability to pound out a boring 12 round decision. Mack is one fighter you don’t want to go primitive with because he’s stronger and a better athlete than Froch. Besides that, brawling is what Mack does. That’s his game and always has. If Froch wants to try and beat Mack at what he does best then I wish him all the best because we could see a really big example on Saturday for why you don’t want to do this.

This is one fight where Froch can’t win it by getting upset and looking to slug. He’s got to try and out-box Mack because this guy will whip Froch if he tries to match his power. Froch is made for Mack with his upright European style of fighting. That’s perfect for Mack.
