Froch: I know I can beat Ward and Kessler to avenge my defeats

froch4By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn says that he’s pretty confident that he can set up a rematch with Froch and WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler in late Spring of next year so that he can try and avenge his loss to Kessler from 2010.

In the meantime, Froch thinks he can both Ward and Kessler in rematches, saying to the Dailystar.co.uk “I have only been beaten twice, and I know that I can beat them [Kessler and Ward] both this time around and prove that I am the best around.”

Hearn to Ward: Froch will fight Kessler then you

hearn343By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn, the promoter for IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch, sent a twitter to the talented WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward yesterday in response to Ward’s recent interview with Sky Sports in which Ward said that Hearn and his fighter Froch were misleading the boxing public making them think that Froch was going to fight Ward but not really having the true intention of doing that.

Hearn said on his twitter to Ward “Merry Christmas, Andre. I wasn’t going to tweet today like L’Oreal, you’re worth it. All we have ever said is we want is the [Mikkel] Kessler fight then you. Nothing misleading. Hope you and the family have a nice day.”

Froch: I’ll beat Kessler and take his WBA title

froch5645346By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch is riding on a high right now from his wins over Lucian Bute and Yusaf Mack, and he now believes himself capable of beating Andre Ward and Mikkel Kessler. Not surprising, Ward isn’t on Froch’s immediate agenda for his next fight and he may not be in Froch’s plans for the entire 2013, although he says he is.

I have my doubts that he’ll fight until 2014. Froch wants Kessler next and he wants him the UK where Froch will have an advantage with a big crowd supporting him. Froch looked terrible last time he fought and lost to Kessler in 2010, but Froch’s wins over Bute and Mack have believing he can beat Kessler now.

Ward: Froch is fighting the weak link in Kessler rather than me

ward6275By Scott Gilfoid: WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward is amused that the big talking IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch has chosen to go after the arguably weak link among the super middleweight champions in facing WBA champ Mikkel Kessler for his next fight rather than taking on Ward to try and avenge his loss to him. Ward doesn’t respect that at all.

Ward said on his twitter “Listen, I’m not interested in anything Froch says. Carl Froch would rather pick on Kessler than fight me. He’s going after the weak link. Carl Froch and Eddie Hearn [his promoter] need to stop misleading the fans. Tell the truth. You don’t want the fight.”

Froch: We’re going to get Kessler in the UK

kessler32By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) believes his promoter Eddie Hearn from Matchroom Sport will be able to successfully lure Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) to come over to the UK to fight him rather than having the fight take place in a neutral country or Denmark.

Froch naturally sees it as a huge advantage for himself if he can get Kessler over to the UK to fight in front of a large pro Froch crowd. Froch lost his previous fight to Kessler back in 2010 in Denmark, and Froch seems to think that Kessler should be fair about it by volunteering to fight in the UK.

Froch’s fight with Kessler could cost him Ward rematch

froch0324By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) has laid out three fights that he badly wants to take place 2013 with him fighting Mikkel Kessler, Lucian Bute and Andre Ward. It’s like a kid in a candy store. Froch has these fights that he sees himself fighting and getting nice paydays in each of them. Unfortunately, the only way all of those three fights take place is if Froch beats Kessler next and then whoever comes after him.

A loss for Froch against Kessler will remove any chances of Froch getting a fight with Ward, which is why I think it’s silly of Froch to be lining up all these guys in his head that he plans on fighting when the chances are pretty high that he’ll have his three fights torn apart in his first fight of the three-fight series.
