Hearn offers big money to Carl Frampton to face Scott Quigg on July 18th

Scott Quigg’s promoter Eddie Hearn has offered Carl Frampton £1.5million to fight Quigg at the Manchester Arena on July 18.

The Bury star joined promoter Eddie Hearn in Matchroom Sport’s offices in Brentwood to confirm the offer live on Sky Sports News, which was sent to Frampton’s team earlier in the day.

Unbeaten World champions Quigg (WBA) and Frampton (IBF) have long been on a collision course, and after issuing the offer to the Belfast man, Quigg is hoping that they can clash in a summer blockbuster.

Hearn wants Frampton vs. Quigg fight to happen now, not later

frampton44By Scott Gilfoid: Eddie Hearn, the promoter for WBA World super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg (30-0-2, 22 KOs), is hoping that a unification match between the 26-year-old Quigg and Frampton can take place now rather than later.

The two fighters may end up making normal title defenses for their next fights, and that’s not something that Hearn wants. He sees there being too much risk of injury or possible defeats if the two fighters keep putting off their UK mega-fight.

Hearn hoping Scott Quigg vs. Carl Frampton fight can take place in summer

quigg43By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is counting on being able to setup a big UK mega-fight this summer between the unbeaten IBF super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton (20-0, 14 KOs) and WBA champion Scott Quigg (30-0-2, 22 KOs).

The two fighters are still unbeaten, but then again neither of them has faced the cream of the 122 pound division in WBC/WBO champion Guillermo Rigondeaux and WBC champ Leo Santa Cruz. Rigondeaux has been interested in facing Quigg and Frampton for a long time, but he’s had no luck in getting either of them to accept a fight with him. Does that make Quigg and Frampton paper champions?

Hearn offers Frampton to fight Quigg next Spring

frampton80By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is saying that he made an offer to unbeaten Carl Frampton (16-0, 11 KO’s) to fight Hearn’s fighter WBA super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg (26-0-2, 19 KO’s) next Spring.

The fight, if Frampton and his adviser agree to it, will depend on Quigg winning his next title defense on November 23rd against a still to be determined opponent, and Frampton winning his bout this month on October 19th against #4 IBF Jeremy Parodi (35-1-1, 9 KO’s).

Frampton-Quigg & Price-Fury: The two fights Britain wants to see

price2By Mark Havey: I have always felt that the best fights are at domestic level, before the money and world titles come. Fans are often so caught up with the big PPV events that they miss the real battles. Proof of this can be witnessed at the event of any big fight. The arena is near enough empty for the first fight and doesn’t reach full capacity until the last fight of the night.

I spend a lot of time in boxing gyms and talking to hard core fight fans. Finally I don’t have to listen to talk of Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather. A fight that was never going to happen until it was too late, and was never going to live up to expectations.
