Hearn offers big money to Carl Frampton to face Scott Quigg on July 18th

Scott Quigg’s promoter Eddie Hearn has offered Carl Frampton £1.5million to fight Quigg at the Manchester Arena on July 18.

The Bury star joined promoter Eddie Hearn in Matchroom Sport’s offices in Brentwood to confirm the offer live on Sky Sports News, which was sent to Frampton’s team earlier in the day.

Unbeaten World champions Quigg (WBA) and Frampton (IBF) have long been on a collision course, and after issuing the offer to the Belfast man, Quigg is hoping that they can clash in a summer blockbuster.

“He’s now got 1.5 million reasons for him to fight me,” said Quigg. “This is the closest the fight has ever been, I believe he wants the fight but we’ll find out today. Carl – let’s get this fight made.

“There’s two fights in Britain that the public want – Kell Brook and Amir Khan and Carl and I – it’s a great fight and we need to make it now, it would sell out that famous arena in a heartbeat and would be a hit on Sky Sports.”

Cyclone Promotion issued an immediate statement in response to the offer in which they stated the event must be a co-promotion to go ahead, and that negotiations were on-going.

Hearn responded: “It is not about Cyclone Promotions and Matchroom Sport, it’s about Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton. If Cyclone Promotions really need their name on the poster and Buffer to mention them in the introductions, then no problem.

“They are right that negotiations have been on-going but they ended last week when we hit a brick wall.

“We’re frustrated. Brook versus Khan has fallen by the wayside and we want to make sure that this fight happens. We’ve made Carl an offer of £1.5million to fight in Manchester on July 18. There’s no reason why this fight can’t happen and we are willing to put the money up.

“There’s no offer from them and all the revenue is being delivered by us. We have massive respect for Carl, he’s a brilliant fighter that I have worked with in the past. These are two great champions and we just want to see the fight; let’s get it made.”

Norwegian trio added to Nordic Fight Night bill on May 2 in Copenhagen

Tim-Robin Lihaug (11-1, 6 KOs), Simen Smaadal (9-1, 4 KOs) and Alexander Hagen (6-1, 2 KOs) will be flying the flag for Norway when the Nordic Fight Night returns to Copenhagen on May 2. The talented trio will be crossing the North Sea to showcase their skills at the Danish capital’s Frederiksberg-Hallerne.

Lihaug will be leading the Norwegian invasion. The WBO Youth World Champion returns following the second-round stoppage of Slavisa Simeunovic at the Ballerup Super Arena in March and will be eager to continue his unbeaten run. Joining the 22 year-old super middleweight star is former opponent Simen Smaadal and light heavyweight prospect Alexander Hagen, who both enjoyed KO victories when they last laced gloves in Frederikshavn earlier this year.

Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: ‘’Norwegian fans can look forward to a fantastic night of boxing in Copenhagen with three of the country’s top boxing talents in action. All three guarantee excitement, as evident from their last performances. I expect no different when they enter the ring on May 2.’’

Opponents for the Norwegian fighters will be announced shortly. The action-packed show in Copenhagen also features the WBC Female World Light Welterweight Championship fight between Klara Svensson (15-0, 5 KOs) and Erica Anabella Farias (21-1, 10 KOs), and Micki Nielsen’s (17-0, 12 KOs) WBC International Cruiserweight title defence against Junior Anthony Wright (13-0-1, 11 KOs).

Team Sauerland present the ‘Nordic Fight Night – Going For Gold’ on May 2 at the Frederiksberg-Hallerne in Copenhagen. All the action will be broadcast live on Viasat channels across Scandinavia. Tickets are available via billetlugen.dk.
