By Dan Ambrose: WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) thinks his opponent 29-year-old Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KO’s) thinks he’s in the wrong business and feels he should be in golf rather than boxing because of Dawson’s relaxed manner.

Dawson: Hopkins’ run as boxing’s oldest champion is over
By Dan Ambrose: 29-year-old two-time light heavyweight world champion Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KO’s) intends on knocking 46-year-old World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) off his perch on October 15th at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Hopkins captured the WBC title recently with a win over pot shot article Jean Pascal in a 12 round decision last May.
Dawson: Hopkins can’t beat a guy like me
By Dan Ambrose: Former two-time light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KO’s) will have a huge advantage in the youth department over the 46-year-old WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) on October 15th in their HBO pay per view bout at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Hopkins happy to be fighting southpaw Dawson, thinks he’ll do well
Hopkins vs. Dawson to take place at the Staples Center
By Chris Williams: For what it’s worth, the October 15th bout between WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins and Chad Dawson will be taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California instead of the previous location of New Jersey. I won’t go into the boring and drawn out pablum of why the fight was moved, but suffice to say the fight will likely draw as well in Los Angeles as it would have in New Jersey.
Hopkins vs. Dawson could be moved to the Staples Center in Los Angeles
By Dan Ambrose: The October 15th bout between 46-year-old WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) and challenger Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KO’s) could be moved from it’s current location of Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey to the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Dawson: I’ll beat Hopkins with my jab, speed and youth
By Dan Ambrose: Former two times light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KO’s) vows not to make the same mistake as former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal made in his recent loss to 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) by not throwing enough punches. Dawson plans on using his jab, hand speed and youth to take the fight to Hopkins and out-work him in their upcoming October 15th fight at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Dawson vs. Hopkins on HBO PPV on October 15th
By Dan Ambrose: WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 Ko’s) will be fighting former two time light heavyweight world champion Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KO’s) on HBO pay per view (PPV) on October 15th, according to Steve Kim. It’s good fight but it’s unclear how well this fight will do on PPV, because Dawson isn’t a huge star. And you have to wonder how well the 46-year-old Hopkins can draw with boxing fans.
Dawson vs. Hopkins in October or November
By Dan Ambrose: A bout between 46-year-old WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) and former two time light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KO’s) is reportedly on for October or November says Dawson’s promoter Gary Shaw to fighthype.com. Shaw sees Dawson beating Hopkins and says he’ll stand in there and trade with him. That may be the only choice that Dawson has to win, because he won’t have much luck trying to move and pot shot Hopkins all night long.
Dawson has the style to make Hopkins look his age
By Dan Ambrose: As ESPN2 analyst Teddy Atlas pointed out, Jean Pascal fought in only brief spurts against 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins, letting the older fighter control the pace and rest when he wanted to. Atlas sees this as one of the main reasons why Hopkins was able to beat Pascal in their rematch on May 21st. However, Hopkins is now set to fight Chad Dawson, a tall 6’3″ southpaw with fast hands and excellent technical skills and an and ability to get out of the way of Hopkins’ slower shots.
