Chavez Jr. forced to take 8 pounds off in last two days for Rubio bout
(Photo: Alma Montiel) By Allan Fox: In a sign where there could be some problems tonight, WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31 KO’s) reportedly had to drop eight pounds in the last two days for tonight’s fight against Marco Antonio Rubio in San Antonio, Texas, according to Dan Rafael.
Chavez Jr. looked badly drained on Friday at the weigh-in, looking as if he had every ounce of water taken out of his body. In the past week, Chavez J. looked very heavy. Judging by how big he’s been looking, my guess is Chavez Jr. will scale well over 180lbs tonight for the Rubio fight.
